Purposes of the position:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sourcing Specialist to join our dynamic team in the logistics and freight forwarding industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing services across various transportation modes, including airfreight, sea freight, rail, warehouse, and project cargo. The role involves negotiating payment terms, qualifying and onboarding vendors, and obtaining competitive rates to ensure cost-effective and efficient logistics solutions.

Reports to: Business Development Manager, Projects and Freight Forwarding

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Sourcing:
    • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for various logistics services, including airfreight, sea freight, rail, warehouse, and project cargo.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable and diverse vendor base.
  • Negotiation:
    • Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and optimize service quality.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand specific requirements and negotiate contracts that meet business needs.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance service levels and reduce costs.
  • Payment Terms:
    • Negotiate and establish payment terms with suppliers to align with company financial objectives.
    • Monitor and manage payment processes to ensure adherence to agreed-upon terms.
  • Rate Management:
    • Obtain and analyze competitive rates for various transportation modes and logistics services.
    • Maintain a comprehensive rate database and regularly review and update pricing structures.
    • Work closely with the finance and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely cost information.
  • Project Cargo Experience:
    • Utilize project cargo expertise to manage sourcing and logistics requirements for special projects.
    • Collaborate with project teams to develop tailored logistics solutions and ensure successful project execution.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills required.
    • Conducts business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for corporate guidelines, legal and environmental regulations.
    • Excellent team facilitation and presentation skills required.

Specific requirements for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Sourcing Specialist or similar role in the logistics/freight forwarding industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings.
  • Familiarity with all modes of transportation (airfreight, sea freight, rail) and logistics services (warehouse, project cargo).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management experience in the logistics industry is advantageous.
