Access Community Health Network is Hiring a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist Near Chicago, IL

Hybrid Position - Must be available for weekly travel in Chicago area to various health centers Position Summary The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist contributes to content development, ongoing service line documentation improvement initiatives (including formal and informal provider education), pre-and post-encounter documentation and coding reviews, and participates in department and organization projects related to Risk Adjustment activities. Core Job Responsibilities Facilitates, obtains, and reviews appropriate provider documentation for clinical conditions to support the appropriate severity of illness, accuracy of ICD reporting and supporting language. Performs CDI QA reviews: Prospective, Concurrent, Pre-bill, and Retrospective. Serves as an expert resource in reviewing all medical records in support of consistent documentation for all payer types (i.e. CMS, Medicare Advantage, etc.) to ensure complete and accurate diagnosis capture and coding. Working with Learning and Development and HIM, educates both in-person at the health centers and virtually providers, nurses, coders, and other disciplines on documentation, coding, and reimbursement issues. Identifies quality issues in documentation and seeks resolution of issues through appropriate channels. Conducts data and root cause analysis, provides feedback, and shares findings on the analysis to leaders, management, and medical teams. Performs other duties as assigned Requirements/Preferences Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related field required Minimum of two (2) years working in a healthcare setting; BSN, RN or comparable degree preferred RHIA or RHIT with CCDS, CCDS-O, CDIP, CPC, CPC-P, CPC-H, CPC-I, CRC, or CCS credentials required Minimum two (2) years’ experience in ICD-10 CM and CPT coding systems Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in RADV and Medicare Risk Adjustment such as Hierarchical Condition category (HCC) and RxHCC; solid knowledge of clinical conditions and basic documentation requirements. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
