JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting Acadian Companies networking infrastructure to include routing, switching, transport (fiber and copper) media, wireless, LAN/WAN circuits and other network systems.

REPORTS TO: IT Supervisor, Operations

EQUIPMENT: Basic hand tools, mobile workstation, stationary workstation

  1. Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, WiFi access points, and VPNs.

  2. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, outages, slow speeds, and other problems.

  3. Maintain network infrastructure servers including DHCP, DNS, proxies, intrusion detection/prevention systems.

  4. Work with Network Administrators to ensure proper configuration of network authentication, authorization, and access controls.

  5. Maintain updated documentation like network diagrams, IP schemas, configuration manuals.

  6. Perform regular network maintenance and upgrades like patches, firmware updates, replacing equipment.

  7. Participate in change management procedures for network/server changes.

  8. Collaborate with the security team on monitoring, intrusion detection, and implementing best practices.

  9. Work with systems administrators on server deployments, configurations, and connectivity.

  10. Participate in disaster recovery planning and tests. Be available for after-hours support.

  11. Review, prioritizing, and resolving network-related tickets.

  12. Escalate complex issues to network administrators or vendor support.

  13. Stay up-to-date on network technology, healthcare IT trends, and industry best practices.

  14. Conduct training for IT staff on new equipment, configurations, features.

  15. Document network configurations, diagrams, policies, and procedures.

  16. Special projects and initiatives to improve network performance, stability, and security.

  17. As a provider of essential services, Acadian expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Network preferred

  2. CCNA preferred

  3. 1-3 years network experience preferred

  4. Experience with various technologies and applications

  5. Solarwinds

  6. Cradlepoint

  7. Palo Alto

  8. Cisco Switching, Routing, Wireless

  9. Cisco Security Products (ISE, Umbrella)

Experience with building infrastructure cabling design, fiber, cat6, etc

Experience with various routing protocols

  1. EIGRP

  2. BGP

  3. OSPF

Strong understanding of DNS and DHCP

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Experience with Cisco Unified Communications platform preferred

  1. CUCM

  2. UCCX

  3. Unity

Experience with various WAN and carrier technologies preferred

  1. SD-WAN

  2. MPLS

  3. MetroE

Hybrid position with some travel 

Current and valid state-issued driver’s license determined by appropriate state requirements required.

Good communication and customer relation skills.

Possess organizational skills with attention to detail.

Demonstrate a strong work ethic and be able to work independently and with a team.

Must be self-motivated and disciplined.

  1. Orientation to job requirements.

  2. Obtain Network or comparable certification approved by leadership, within 6 months of hire date

  3. Obtain CCNA or comparable certification approved by leadership, within 12 months of achieving Network
