Position Overview

The role of a Senior Project Manager is to manage the execution of multiple company projects from inception through project completion. Managing a team of project managers and more junior staff, the Senior Project Manager will be engaged in the project from project award through every aspect of the project from our design and manufacturing process, project manufacturing, on site assembly and project close-out. This role is pivotal to the Company’s success as the Senior Project Manager will collaborate on the project by utilizing accountability methods with the responsible departments ranging from Sales, Estimating, Procurement, Manufacturing, Warehousing & Transportation, and Site Operations. The Senior Project Manager will serve as the project’s contracting officer, serving as the senior representative of the Company with our customer. The Senior Project Manager will travel to jobsites as necessary to effectively manage the project, attend design and construction coordination meetings, and run internal and external progress meetings. The Senior Project Manager will provide routine project status updates to the Company Executive Team to include budget, schedule, customer communications and procurement status.

Escalation: VP of Project Management, Regional Director of Project Management (Future) Reports to: VP of Project Management

Direct Reports: Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage project managers and participate in contract preparation to include definition of scope, cost estimating, scheduling, negotiation, and management of revisions with client architects, builders, general contractors, and developers.

  • Create a detailed plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete contract requirements.

  • Participate in wood framing, MEP, and structural engineering issue resolution with stakeholders, engineers, and architects.

  • Travel to Blueprint Robotics projects in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, or Massachusetts as required.

  • Facilitate the definition of contract scope, goals, and deliverables.

  • Plan and manage contract budget and resources.

  • Develop and execute a full project schedule, from project bidding to closeout.

  • Define contract tasks and resource requirements.

  • Develop full scale project plans and execute the contract according to the project plan.

  • Monitor and report on progress of the contract to all stakeholders including cost tracking and timelines.

  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with contract documents, building and safety codes, environmental or other regulations.

  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at job sites to ensure that proper procedures are being followed.

  • Confer with architects, builders, general contractors, and developers to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.

  • Implement and manage contract changes and interventions.

  • Develop and implement quality control programs.

  • Assess and evaluate contract deliverables and results.

Professional Qualities & Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a degree in a related discipline.

  • 11 years’ experience in project management or similar role in the commercial construction industry, experience with a general contractor preferred, wood –framed construction experience is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.

  • Experienced knowledge reading drawings and specifications.

  • Knowledge of wood frame construction and MEP/FP highly preferred.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Computer proficient.

Success is measured by the individual’s overall effectiveness in achieving set goals for their focus areas which includes:

  • Performance: The ability to plan and organize tasks and complete them on-time according to plan in a proactive manner regardless of challenges and obstacles that may arise.

  • Quality: Are tasks completed with a minimal amount of rework while following established processes.

  • Problem Solving: Identifying, taking ownership, and solving problems in a timely manner as measured by documentation which defines the problem(s), proposed solutions, implementation process and validation.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a “team” environment as measured by team members and customer feedback.

Example Metrics

  • Performance: Customer deliverables (schedules, submittals, change orders) submitted by promised dates/times.

  • Quality: Project schedule is reflective of accurate scope and durations at first submission to leadership for review.

  • Problem Solving: RFI’s are resolved in a timely manner.

  • Teamwork: Are roadblocks being resolved for the team so as not to impact the project schedule? Does your availability match the needs of the team and clients?
