The Academy of the Holy Cross (Kensington, MD) is looking for a Varsity Field Hockey Assistant Coach to join our program for the 2024-25 Spring season.

About the Position:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a coach to lead within a program in a spirited, catholic educational setting as well as a competitive, athletic centric environment. The start of the season is Mid-August until late October. The ideal candidate will have effective positive communication skills, passion for Field Hockey as well as strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate will also possess an organic passion to instruct, develop, and teach individual/team Field Hockey strategy while building life-long, lasting mentor relationships. The ideal candidate will have a desire to help build a program, a vision to convey to student-athletes as well as a willingness to build relationships within our community and the grassroots field hockey community. The ideal candidate will have earned a college degree and have demonstrated experience coaching/playing at the high school, college, or professional level.

The Academy of the Holy Cross provides a competitive stipend within this position.

Principal duties include:

• Assist the Head Coach in oversight of the entire Field Hockey program
• Expansive knowledge of Field Hockey including practice plan strategies and design of individual and group training/practice/game routines and programs.
• Efficiently communicate to student-athletes, parents, and school constituents – athletic administration, etc.
• Recruiting - conveying optimism to prospective and current student-athletes on behalf of the school including admissions initiatives like Open House.
• Organization in synergy with the league schedule – to include additional extracurricular opportunities such as summer or winter leagues.
• Positive and Professional - ability to lead by example as a positive role model for young women of our community. Ability to interact effectively and positively as an ambassador of the school.
• Embraces the core values of Academy of the Holy Cross while exemplifying behavior consistent with those values.
• Ability to be an ambassador of the Academy’s athletic offering to inspire and drive enrollment.
• Ability to attain CPR/First Aid certification upon hire.
• Must be available Monday through Friday during after school (PM) hours for practices and games as scheduled.
