Location: EAC (Education and Administration Center) Recruiting Start Date: 12/06/2023 Estimated Start Date: 02/01/2024 Accounting and Budget Analyst designs and maintains financial records; summarizes, analyzes, or verifies such records; and/or controls and certifies expenditures and receipts. Reports consistently for work as scheduled Performs other duties as assigned Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards Assists in coordinating the annual audit and preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report Develops and modifies accounting procedures and supporting methods to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Board policy, administrative regulations, and state statute Exercises a high degree of independent judgment and discretion in planning and coordinating internal audits of schools and departments in order to meet the fiscal accountability goals of the district Maintains current knowledge of school district finance, accounting, and budget laws and regulations Maintains knowledge of changes in governmental accounting and financial reporting standards as promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Maintains systems for recording, tracking, monitoring, and inventorying district assets Monitors expenditures in all funds Performs Internal Audits, as required, for schools and departments Prepares necessary monthly and year-end general ledger journal entries Provides spreadsheet, database, and word processing support to the business and finance offices Responsible for implementing and maintaining internal controls for the safety of funds being disbursed and receipted Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of the main district operating account and preparing associated reconciling journal entries Serves on various ad hoc committees representing the business office Supports school and department staff through training and customer-service oriented assistance Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to adapt to changing technologies and to learn functionality of new equipment and systems Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing Ability to create training materials, related documentation, and to train others Ability to create, access, input, retrieve, and manipulate information in various software systems, including databases and spreadsheets Ability to establish and maintain accurate record keeping, document management, and filing systems Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from many diverse backgrounds and professions including supervisors, administrators, coworkers, staff, students, parents, and the general public Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to greet and interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to manage simultaneous demands and set clear priorities Ability to operate standard office equipment, performing a wide range of supportive tasks Ability to provide excellent customer service for stakeholders Ability to work days, hours, locations, and assignments as directed by the supervisor within the position responsibilities Ability to work independently without direct supervision Ability to work well with others and share knowledge in a team environment Commitment to the education of students as a primary responsibility Computer proficiency including office productivity applications Demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous demands and set clear priorities Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team setting Demonstrates citizenship, compassion, courage, discernment, excellence, honesty, hope, integrity, patience, perseverance, reliability, respect, responsibility, and trustworthiness Detail-oriented Energetic, creative, innovative, flexible Excellent cooperative, collaborative, and problem-solving skills Fundamental understanding of bookkeeping and accounting concepts Interact efficiently with other departments and locations to resolve issues and document solutions Knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles and practices as applied to public school budgeting Strong mathematical and analytical skills Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, listening, and verbal communication skills Willingness to participate in ongoing training as required Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a staff member typically encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Required Qualifications Bachelor's (Baccalaureate) degree (e.g., B.A., A.B., B.S.) 3-5 Years Experience in Government Auditing, Accounting, or Budgeting Preferred Qualifications Certified Public Accountant - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Experience working in or with education (K-12 or Higher Ed) Experience with an enterprise resource planning system (such as Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft) Compensation Range: $67,485-$77,485 (Based on job relevant experience at 100% FTE) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20 Hours per Day: 4.0 hour(s) per day Number of Days per Year: 230 days M-F Benefits Eligibility: Part-time - Regular For more information on our benefits, please visit Employee Benefits | Academy District 20 (asd20.org).
