Description

The Health Office Supervisor is responsible for organizing and coordinating the Health Services Programs at AMS school campuses in Arizona and Arkansas. Through this work they will enhance the educational process of students by maximizing their health and well-being, modifying, or removing health-related barriers to learning, and promoting an optimal level of wellness within context of the coordinated school health model. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in nursing, leadership skills, and a genuine passion for promoting the health of students. The role requires effective communication, organization, and collaboration to ensure the optimal delivery of healthcare services within AMS schools.

Health Office Supervision

  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, support, and training to campus Health Technicians.
  • Collaborate with Health Technicians to ensure consistent application of health protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to Health Technicians.

Healthcare Coordination

  • Oversee the management of student health records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Coordinate and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specific medical needs, allergies, or chronic conditions.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop and implement effective health strategies for students

Emergency Response

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for each school, addressing various health-related scenarios.
  • Provide training and guidance to school staff on first aid, emergency procedures, and the use of medical equipment.

Health Promotion and Education

  • Organize and support health education programs, workshops, and training sessions for students and staff on hygiene, nutrition, and overall wellness.
  • Promote health awareness through campaigns and initiatives that encourage healthy behaviors among students.

Medication Management

  • Create policies and procedures regarding the administration of medications to students.
  • Create policies that ensure proper storage and documentation of medications in compliance with state regulations.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Foster positive relationships with parents, guardians, and healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication regarding students' health needs.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and counselors to address health-related concerns that may affect students' academic performance.

Compliance

  • Establish policies and procedures to ensure state mandated health screenings are completed by campus health technicians.
  • Ensure all required state health reporting is completed and is submitted through the proper channels.

Qualifications


  • Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) Arizona license; or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or higher; master's degree in nursing or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Knowledge of pediatric nursing, child development, and common childhood illnesses.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
