We have an exciting opportunity to join our AC Hotel by Marriott Phoenix Tempe/Downtown, a 159-room lifestyle select service hotel, as our Kitchen Supervisor.

Job Summary:

The Kitchen Supervisor will assist in the overall operation of the culinary team in the respective outlet. Partnering with F&B management, this individual is responsible for assisting in creating schedules, executing orders, assisting in menu preparation/creation and ensuring a quality experience for hotel guests.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Controls the quality and consistency of all food served.
  • Working cook supervisor.
  • Creates and adjusts work schedule according to workloads and occupancy.
  • Assist with ordering and receive ingredients and culinary supplies.
  • Consistently conduct departmental line-ups and following SOPs.
  • Maintains cleanliness of all food prep and production areas.
  • Assists in training all back of house team members.
  • Conducts a month end inventory of all products. Assists in maintaining invoices.
  • Ensure work areas are set no less than 20 minutes prior to service.
  • Ensure all food supplies necessary for service are in appropriate supply on a timely basis.
  • Assist in controlling food cost with guidance from Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Assist in producing and executing banquets.
  • Prepare and properly store food items for advanced production.
  • Report any maintenance or security problems to the appropriate department promptly.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • 1-2 years proven kitchen experience in a supervisory role.
  • Available weekends, holidays, and be flexible to work AM/PM shifts according to business demands
  • Proven mentoring and development skills for both exempt and non-exempt staff
  • Knowledge of restaurant establishment back of house
  • Computer savvy in Microsoft applications required
  • Strong financial competency is desired
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team
  • Adaptable, flexible, positive attitude
  • Previous Marriott experience
  • Previous Hotel opening experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to manipulate equipment, and to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
