Abundant Preschool of Learning is looking for a qualified professional teacher to join our dynamic staff. The teacher must be skilled in Early Childhood Principles; must possess strong classroom management techniques; responsible with planning and implementing classroom lessons; coordinating activities and events for children and parents. An excellent communicator with the ability to interact with parents and the public and provide excellent customer service by phone, email and in person; complete daily classroom paperwork that is required and assist with other assigned duties. The Preschool Teacher I position is assigned the primary teaching responsibilities and may collaborate with an assistant or associate teacher.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fully embraces and acts in accordance with the vision of Abundant Living Family Church (ALFC) to Seek the Lost, Teach the Found, and Send the Disciples.

  • Willing to fulfill the 7 pillars of ALFC. We are a Mission Driven, Leadership Driven, Discipleship Driven, Family Driven, Christ-Centered Driven, Kingdom Driven, Diversity Driven church.

  • Implement the weekly faith-based lesson plans:

  • Implement APL established faith-based curriculum, Orange Curriculum and Abeka curriculum.

  • Include Praise & Worship in daily activities with children.

  • Pray before each meal.

  • Daily program for children:

  • Implement APL established research-based curriculum, Teaching Strategies' The Creative Curriculum throughout the Daily Schedule.

  • Follow APL curriculum through Large Group, Small Group, Free Choice, Meal Time, Outdoor Environment , and Transitions.

  • Support objectives for learning and development that foster the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and behaviors most predicative of school success; Social Emotional, Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, Mathematics, Science and Technology, and the Arts.

  • Update the communication application Brightwheel daily with messages, meals, and pictures to stay connected with families.

  • Teach and Train:

  • Cognitive skills such as: letter and number recognition, counting, colors, shapes, etc.

  • Daily Routines such as: Arrival, Teacher,-Directed Activities, Child-Led Explorations, Free Choice, Meal Time, Transitions, Naptime, Departure.

  • Children classroom behavior guidance and management.

  • Problem solving and independence skills through modeling.

  • Conduct general observations to support and communicate children's individualization of learning.

  • Children to speak using a calm and caring voice using language that is easily understood.

  • Children table manners and to clean up after themselves.

  • Children to think creatively, problem solve independently, teach respect to others and self.

  • Appropriate communication and developmental language to young children.

  • Instruct children on the proper way to use materials and play equipment to prevent injuries.

  • Supervision of children; prevent injuries/accidents and react appropriately if they occur.

  • Maintain active supervision both indoors and outdoors by always rotating among play areas,

  • Administer First-aid as needed.

  • Follow APL guidelines for reporting injuries.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children and their families.

  • Conduct daily health checks on each child as they sign in for the day.

  • Report suspected abuse to supervisor.

  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Director or another administrator on site.

Qualifications


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software. Windows based software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Proof of current TB Clearance, MMR immunization, Tdap immunization, and Influenza vaccination. *The Influenza vaccination may be declined with a signed statement.

  • Able to successfully complete background investigation and drug screen.

  • Mentally reacts appropriately and immediately in unexpected circumstances.

  • Required to stand up to 95% of the workday.

  • High School Diploma.

  • Minimum 12 ( ) Units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (including core courses: Child/Human Growth & Development; Child, Family & Community; Curriculum). *All applicable course work must be completed with a grade of "C" or better from regionally accredited college or university.

  • Minimum 6 months - 3 years' experience in a licensed childcare facility.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possession and maintenance of a California Child Development Permit (Associate teacher or higher).

  • Completion of an additional 12 units (inclusive of 3 units in Infant and Toddler Care) in the field of child development or closely related field (e.g., human development).

  • Completion of 16 units in General Education (one in each category-English/Language Arts; Math or Science, Social Sciences; Humanities and/or Fine Arts.

  • 175 days of experience at 3 hours per day within 4 years.

  • Completion of 21 hours of professional growth annually.

  • Possession and maintenance of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Certificate.

  • Possession and maintenance of San Bernardino County Food Handlers Card.

  • Possession and maintenance of Adult/Child/Infant First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
