As a Behavioral Health Technician at Abria Detox, you will provide essential care and support to patients in the initial stages of their recovery journey. This role demands compassion, patience, and a strong commitment to helping others overcome substance abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Support and Care:
Monitor and assist patients during the detoxification process.
Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients.
Assist with daily living activities and ensure patient safety.
Clinical Assistance:
Work under the guidance of medical professionals to implement treatment plans.
Record and report patients' behavioral changes and physical wellbeing.
Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for side effects.
Crisis Intervention:
Respond to emergencies or behavioral crises with appropriate interventions.
Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage aggressive or disruptive behaviors.
Therapeutic Environment:
Facilitate group therapy sessions and recreational activities.
Promote a positive, supportive environment conducive to recovery.
Uphold facility policies and maintain a safe, clean environment.
Communication and Coordination:
Communicate effectively with the treatment team regarding patient progress and challenges.
Coordinate with external agencies or families for patient care continuity.
Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; further education in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
Previous experience in behavioral health, addiction services, or a related field.
Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or similar credential is desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work flexibly in a demanding and stressful environment.
Basic knowledge of substance abuse and mental health disorders.
CPR and First Aid certification may be required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
May require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
