Direct Care Staff

We are seeking Direct Care staff for our 11 to 17 boys in our RTC in Katy, TX. Candidates must be dependable, friendly and can effectively communicate with boys with intellectual disabilities, Autism and Behaviors and necessary professionals.

This position provides the basic daily direct-care that is required by the Staff. It assists boys in attaining and maintaining maximum functional independence, personal hygiene, medication administration as well as, supports and promotes the rights of the boys.

Job Duties:

• May assist boys with daily living skills, social skills and/or academic tasks.
• Drives and/or accompanies boys to community based activities/appointments as needed.
• Works with other staff to ensure safety, cleanliness, and well being of our boys in our programs.
• Keeps boys on task and redirects focus.
• Shows compassion, builds rapport and encourages boys in order for them to develop into their full potential.
• Works with staff throughout Above & Beyond Blessings, RTC to meet the needs of each of our boys.
• Provide: 1 on 1 direct care & supervison when needed when assigned
• Monitor and assist boys with their bahaviors in a fast paced work environment.
• Monitor, maintain and complete 15 minute round sheets.
• Document activites, incidents and other neccessary information.
• Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and guidelines.
• Must be able to handle situations that may be stressful at times.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENT

• Requires the ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Requires the ability to grasp, move or carry items that may weigh up to 45 lbs without assistance.
• Requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and lift objects or position people.
• Requires the ability to stay awake and alert while on duty.
• Requires the ability to read and write in order to understand and communicate information and ideas.
• Requires basic math abilities to calculate quantities and dosages of medication and to implement training objectives.
• Requires the ability to stay focused on a critical task while experiencing distractions or interruptions.
• Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
• Must be able to handle situations that may be stressful at times.
• Must be reliable in attendance and timeliness to work schedules.
• Must have hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges.
• Must demonstrate organizational skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a current and valid Texas Driver’s License.
• 1-2 years experience as Direct Care Staff-working with boys from 11 to 17 years old or related field is preferred.
• Must be able to pass criminal back ground check.
• Must be 28 years or older (perferred).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor
