Position Title: Engineering - Electrical Technician
Location: East Chicago, IN
Status: Contract – 6-12 months Possible conversion to FT
Status: On-Site
Pay Range -$25-$32 HR

Who We Are Looking For / RequirementsPerform all routine, corrective and emergency maintenance activities to keep all commercial lighting and commercial electrical systems in working order. Diagnose problems and then repair/replace defective parts as required.
Completed Secondary Education
  • Completed vocational school with Electrical Certification
  • Experience with commercial electrical work
What You Will Do / Responsibilities
  • Provide and maintain a high quality of customer service to customer base.
  • Performs electrical maintenance and repair work; install/replace fixtures, switches, receptacles and wiring in compliance with current National Electric Code
  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
  • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
  • Respond quickly to trouble calls when a breakdown occurs. Communicate to management whether the problem can be corrected and whether business can continue as usual. If regular activities must be stopped, the electrician will have to estimate how long a shutdown will last and identify alternatives for operation.
  • Make periodic inspection for new and existing electrical components (120v, 208v, 240v, 277v and 480v three phase), including, but not limited to, wiring, conduit, service panels, breakers, contractors, relays, timers and other associated controls.
  • EMT Conduit bending and installation, connecting circuits and breakers, replacing fuses and fuse boxes, installing receptacles, switches, light fixtures and testing voltages. Motor and control skills and pump systems.
  • Operates a variety of standard power tools, equipment and trenchers in electrical installations, maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.
  • Repair and maintain lightning protection systems.
  • Maintains records and logs as needed.
  • Provides maintenance schedule and material/parts research, parts ordering and shop stock inventory to support routine maintenance and equipment replacement as required.
