ABM US is Hiring a Senior Estimator HVAC and Mechanical Near Pittsburgh, PA

HVAC Mechanical Estimator

Plans, coordinates, and directs major estimating functions in support of the Sales and Operations teams within ABM Technical Solutions (ATS). Responsible for supporting the cost estimating process. Lead estimating teams in estimating larger complex jobs depending on team utilization and skillsets.

Essential Functions

· Estimating and developing proposals for new projects.

· Responsible for reviews of estimates and proposals with appropriate leadership teams

· Responsible to review proposals with clients and drive to close.

· Responsible to ensure that estimates are accurate.

· Work with Estimating Manager in maintaining a library of estimates based on style and type of job.

· Update and Maintain Bid Calendar.

· Reviewing and analyzing mechanical and electrical drawings.

· Obtain equipment, subcontractor, and material pricing with an accurate labor estimate for projects.

· Responsible to qualify bid opportunities based on workloads and core capabilities.

· Ensure the Proposal review process is followed prior to release of proposal.

· Manage proposal scope development and bid coordination.

· Attend project site visits and pre-bid meetings, as required.

· Provide estimating support for the sales staff.

· Responsible to attend networking and training events as it relates to sales and estimating.

· Be able to work and thrive in a TEAM environment.

· Required to travel to job sites to perform an onsite evaluation of facility and equipment identified in the Customer’s scope of work and/or to assist internal customers with estimating projects, contracts, or proposals.

 · Perform other duties as assigned.

 · Job duties may be modified at any time. Perform periodic reviews of active projects estimated cost vs. actual cost, scope deficiencies, means and methods of self-performed work, schedule and project specific issues that effected the project estimate

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Assessment:

· Conduct on-site assessments of existing HVAC and mechanical systems in commercial and industrial facilities.

· Evaluate the condition, performance, and energy efficiency of equipment and components.

· Identify areas for potential retrofit and improvement.

2. Estimation:

· Prepare detailed cost estimates for retrofit projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

· Utilize industry-standard estimation software and tools to ensure accuracy.

· Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop retrofit solutions that meet client objectives.

3. Documentation:

· Create and maintain accurate project documentation, including scope of work, specifications, and bills of materials.

· Organize and maintain records of all estimating activities.

· Prepare and submit cost estimates and proposals to clients in a timely manner.

4. Client Communication:

· Interact with clients to understand their specific project requirements and goals.

· Present cost estimates and proposals to clients, addressing any questions or concerns.

· Build and maintain positive client relationships by providing exceptional service.

5. Cost Control:

· Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality.

· Monitor project costs throughout the execution phase to ensure adherence to estimates.

6. Project Support:

· Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimation to project execution.

· Provide ongoing support and clarification to project teams as needed.

Required Qualifications

· 4-year technical degree or equivalent combinations technical and/or related experience.

· Minimum 7-10 years or more construction estimating experience plus including ability to estimate various types of

projects/contracts.

· Familiarity with a variety of the mechanical and construction concepts and practices.

· Excellent communicative, interpersonal, and supervisory skills required.

· Prior experience with Estimating software a plus.

· Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically Excel.

Must be able to work 10% of the time above ground level where the possibility of falling exists (i.e., on ladders, rooftops, bucket trucks, scaffolding) Must be able to work in hazards areas such as Mechanical rooms at least 20% of the time.
