ABM US is Hiring a Safety and Training Manager Near Portsmouth, NH

A Unique Opportunity: The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the EH&S processes while partnering with the Executive Leadership to understand business needs and objectives. Manage the Safety staff, facilitate and maintenance of ABM safety programs and develop solutions in support of those objectives as well as support and drive national and region strategic initiatives. Responsible for planning, developing and coordinating the safety, health and environmental objectives, materials and environments to achieve safety management effectiveness for the business.

Primary Areas of Focus

  • Leading and executing injury prevention efforts that focus on addressing unsafe behaviors and establishing safety as a core value within all ABM employees.
  • Responsible for implementing and evaluating safety efforts that effectively communicate and support company policies in a consistent manner with a key focus on incident prevention and loss abatement.
  • Conduct on-site risk assessments and job hazard analysis' to identify potential hazards to our employees, clients, the public and environment.
  • Design and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Meeting with key customer account representatives.
  • Enforce policy, provide coaching, get expectations and provide resources to the operating team to sustain successful operations.
  • Conduct accident investigations, identify root causes and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Partner with the risk management support team to ensure appropriate investigation details are shared to support after-injury processes.
  • Determine OSHA Recordability status of accidents and ensure all incidents are appropriately classified in the Risk Console system.
  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA record keeping requirements, including but limited to, OSHA 300 logs, training records and others compliance programs requirements specified in 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, where applicable.
  • Facilitate implementation of safe work techniques, effective safety methods and processes, evaluating performance management, training and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct behavior based safety observations and train other employees and managers in this skill to ensure that safety and operations integrity is demonstrated.
  • Lead regularly scheduled safety audits, risk assessments, inspections, and meetings to determine the effectiveness of safety and accident prevention activities, and to ensure compliance with all applicable safety directives.
  • Conduct regulatory and safety awareness training for management and workforce.
  • Drive the evolution of the organization's safety culture by ensuring that all business strategies and safety initiatives align with the organizations vision, mission and goals.
  • Notify the Leadership concerning situations that are immediately dangerous to the health of employees and/or which represent serious financial exposure to the Company.
  • Demonstrate a visible commitment to safety and operations integrity to every employee.
  • Maintaining knowledge of safety, health and environmental regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state and local and possess the ability to evaluate, document and report on compliance with policies, procedures, rules and regulations to ensure operational compliance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health Technology, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years' progressively responsibility in the field of Industrial Safety, Food Safety and/or Risk Management.
  • Must demonstrate ability to effectively support a large multi-site workforce.
  • Must possess working knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
  • Must possess working knowledge of State Workers' Compensation laws.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, influencing and project management skills.
  • Ability to compile technical data and prepare technical and analytical reports.
  • Ability to develop and conduct effective health, safety and environmental training programs and meetings.
  • Skilled in project management, problem-solving techniques and communicating ideas and instructions clearly.
  • Skilled in directing activities and operations of others, including activities involving hazardous situations.

Additional Requirements

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate for all levels of an organization
  • Must demonstrate ability to influence and educate clients on policy and best practices.
  • Must demonstrate comfort speaking in front of groups.
  • Bi-lingual in English & Spanish a plus
  • CSP, OHST, CIH or ARM certifications or evidence of acquiring certification a plus.
