Position Overview: ABM Industries is seeking a skilled and experienced Ammonia Plant Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our ammonia production plant, ensuring optimal performance, compliance with regulatory standards, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

• Operate and maintain all building equipment to ensure the operation of same is with design capabilities and to achieve proper environmental conditions prescribed by building management. 
• Perform preventive maintenance on the equipment as prescribed by ABM Engineering Services’ and manufacturers’ recommendations. 
• Perform all housekeeping functions and maintain a professional appearance of equipment and engineering spaces assigned to engineer. 
• Maintain an energy management program which ensures measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs to a minimum. 
• Review building operations, preventive maintenance, training, energy management and equipment status on a frequent basis. Coordinate this review with the ABM Engineering Services Branch Manager. 
• Maintain and repair trash compactors, including electrical and hydraulic systems. 
• Maintain electrical power distribution and auxiliaries for building’s lighting, mechanical, plumbing and control components, including lighting maintenance. 
• Maintain proper operation during seasonal changes and recalibrate controls based on seasonal conditions to ensure energy efficient operation. 
• Maintain all equipment as required per the Preventive Maintenance Program. Preventive Maintenance Program will be scheduled to meet the manufacturer’s required service specifications. 
• Maintain life safety and security systems. 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in a relevant field preferred.
• Proven experience as an operator in an ammonia production facility or similar industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of ammonia production processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, PSM).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
