ABLE FREIGHT SERVICES, LLC is Hiring an U.S. TSA/Health and Safety Manager Near LOS ANGELES, CA

Description

The U.S. TSA/Health and Safety Manager works with the Compliance team to ensure all Able Freight facilities in the US meet or exceed health and safety standards as set by governing and regulatory agencies and authorities. You will be key in developing relationships with clients and agencies to ensure compliance with import and export regulations. While some training will be given on proprietary applications and procedures, you should enter this position with all necessary skills, experience, and qualifications. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
  • Recommend, implement, and communicate health and safety policies, procedures, and standards to help protect workers and products from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
  • Conduct safety training and education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment and provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations
  • Maintain and update emergency response plans or procedures and plan emergency response drills
  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies
  • Prepare or review specifications or orders for the purchase of safety equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards
  • Examine credentials, licenses, and permits to ensure compliance with certification and government requirements
  • Maintain all required safety records, reports, training records, documentation and employee records with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes
  • Implement procedures for detection, prevention, and elimination of physical, chemical, or other product hazards
  • Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy
  • Review records or reports concerning laboratory results, staffing, floor plans, fire inspections, or sanitation to gather information for the development or enforcement of safety activities
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships with government, regulatory, and certification agencies
  • Research, contract, and audit third-party vendors and services as they pertain to health and safety in all facilities
  • Maintain logbooks of daily activities, including areas visited or activities performed
  • Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, or safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance
  • Complete regular internal and external audits to comply with certification and regulatory processes 
  • Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct inspection and audit violations
  • Maintain and manage corrective action system for employees violating health and safety processes and protocols
  • Monitor and report inventory levels of products or materials
  • Review and Study new TSA rules and regulations as needed; advise of updates to the program
  • Support different departments by collecting and coordinating internal compliance data with auditors for TSA(Random/Scheduled inspections and trace backs)
  • Conduct safety inspections (Daily Walk-arounds) TET secured, badge check, ensure access points are secured
  • Conduct security functions and coordinate and conduct all training as needed or as required
  • Prepare metrics reports related to departmental needs
  • Check New Hire Board for additions and process Security Threat Assessments (STA’s) 
  • Coordinate the maintenance of the Screening Equipment (X-ray, EMD, ETD) 
  • Ensure all screening logs are correct and compliant; Conduct self-audit quarterly
  • Check Main Veroot daily, AR Veroot and IACMS for compliance actions and update any required actions
  • Confirm WMS screener inputs are up to date 
  • Process new shipper applications and reconcile known shipper list with TSA KSMS and A-Works
  • Maintain KSMS for customer’s changes/updates 
  • Assist with the preparation of IAC and CCSF certifications
  • Act as alternate Principal Security Coordinator (PSC)
  • Coordinate K9 Schedules
  • Assist Facility Security Coordinators with TSA random and scheduled audits. 
  • All other tasks as assigned by the Director of U.S. Operations Processes and Quality and/or the US Vice President of Yield Management

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent, experience in security work or aviation screener work
  • Must provide proof of the legal right to work in the United States
  • Is a citizen or national of the United States or a Lawful Permanent Resident
  • 5 years relevant experience in health and safety and 3 years project management 
  • Experience in the fields of freight forwarding, air cargo, or logistics preferred
  • Comprehension of English both written and verbal, demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated awareness of personal responsibility in the workplace 
  • Must have strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Must be highly detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to multi-task while working under deadlines and pressure
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, with proficiency in Outlook and Excel
  • Comfortable using computers for intermediate functions
  • Must be able to work in a refrigerated or cold warehouse environment and around fast-moving equipment 
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend, sit, squat, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, and twist/turn
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment physical, drug screening, and background check

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • College or University degree in a relevant field preferred
