Job Description Job Title: Security and Resilience Control Centre Operator Location: Edinburgh – Onsite At abrdn we empower our clients to plan, save and invest for their futures. The Security and Resilience Control Centre (SaRCC) provides abrdn with an integrated technical security capability, global oversight of operational footprint and Travellers, and is the single point of contact and escalation for the Global Incident Management Structure. The SaRCC is resourced by a Controller and Operator 24/7/365. They will report to and be directed and supported by the SaRCC Specialist. The SaRCC Operator will operate, monitor and provide abrdn with technical security surveillance and support across the abrdn estate via the Integrated Technical Security Systems in the SaRCC. Key Responsibilities Report to the SaRCC Controller and SaRCC Specialist. Understand and adhere to the strategic direction of the abrdn. Support and direct Security Officer personnel, promote appropriate communication and collaborative working across the estate and amongst the team. Maintain a working knowledge of and skills in Technical Security and Building Management Systems as deployed within the SaRCC to ensure effective operations. Support the training and development of staff. Challenge and report any inappropriate conduct. Support briefing and de-briefing of SaRCC staff at start and conclusion of shifts. Support the SaRCC Specialist in developing operational processes and procedures, and maintaining an excellent knowledge of all sites. Adhere to operational processes and procedures. Adhere to Quality Assurance principles across operational processes and procedures. Ensure daily tasks are completed and recorded. Maintain a high standard of dress and deportment. Support adherence to abrdn policies. Technical Responsibilities Support Incident Management / Command and Control, including escalation of Technical, Physical and Resilience Incidents. Receive and action priority incidents across abrdn estate including Command and Control of Security Officer resource, prioritisation of activity, management of effective communications and action plans for relevant incidents. Constantly prioritising incoming alarms and phone calls. Minimising alarm and customer waiting time to enable appropriate action, management or mitigation and resolution. Maintaining competence in operation of Integrated Technical Security Systems and global Travel Tracking Systems. Utilise technical systems and effective verbal communication skills to resolve problems. Issue concise, accurate and clear instructions as required. Good standard in analysis, preparing, writing and presenting operational management and incident reports. Continuously support the development of processes and procedures to enhance operational delivery. Ensuring Intruder, Access and Building Maintenance Systems (BMS) Alarms are monitored / managed and the appropriate incident response initiated, to ensure building security integrity, building services and (site(s) Health & Safety are maintained. Incident response – Ensuring key holders and duty staff are called out and Emergency Services are notified as appropriate, using relevant process guidelines and site access to minimise risk to property and people. Ensure CCTV Systems are utilised, the code of practice and processes are observed and the Data Protection Act 2018 is followed to ensure electronic patrols are effective and system use is optimised. Ensuring the Emergency Phone Line and Help Desk out of hours is monitored, and suitable reactive measures are taken to ensure staff are safeguarded and emergencies are dealt with appropriately. Act as a focal point for abrdn Physical Security and Business Resilience escalation processes and procedures, to ensure relevant staff are notified and incident details are recorded. Administer and manage the networked Access Control Systems, including the input of staff data and the administration of the database to ensure staff have relevant access to Buildings and Restricted Areas. Responding to equipment failures, taking remedial action or initiating callout procedures to maintain technical systems across the estate in working order. Maintain accurate and timely system records of ID Cards, staff access, key holders, contractors, building opening hours, duty engineers, First Aiders and incident response. Essential Skills Operations or Security Control Room or other similar experience. Experience in and knowledge of Incident Management process, Command and Control. Experienced in or knowledge of Access Control, CCTV and Intruder Detection Systems and Alarm response, global Travel Tacking Systems and response. Decision making under pressure and prioritisation over multiple tasks. Good PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Email. Good Interpersonal Skills, especially telephone and written related communications and reporting. Strong team player who is reliable and responsible. Ability to remain calm under pressure and work within strict time limits/situational constraints. Self-Motivated. Corporate Security Sector experience. Desirable Skills Previous experience of working in security operations, policing or military services environments. Experience in information gathering from diverse sources.
