Position Description
Job Title: Business Process Engineer
Reports to: Business Analysts Manager
Scope: This person will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to design and implement processes and systems that are efficient, effective, and informative. They will elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders. They will deliver solutions that eliminate wastefulness and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards and ensuring customer satisfaction. This position will have an emphasis on optimizing business processes and requires excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure that deliverables produce the desired business results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Establish practices and procedures that work towards the continuous improvement of business processes.
  • Develop As-Is and To-Be process flow maps.
  • Become an expert on internal systems and develop hands-on functional expertise in the ERP and CRM enterprise application modules used to support the business processes of stakeholders (JD Edwards, Oracle CX, DSI Mobile Enterprise Platform, Vertex Tax, Business Intelligence).
  • Research and recommend continuous improvement changes to drive enterprise applications systems forward.
  • Train internal and external system users and produce user training resources.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders, including but not limited to customers, internal or external knowledge holders and project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
  • Clearly identify project stakeholders and establish user classes, as well as their characteristics.
  • Conduct interviews and process analysis to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
  • Develop and utilize standard templates to write requirement specifications accurately and concisely.
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team.
  • Where necessary, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on findings.
  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions.
  • Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize collected requirements and develop any necessary phasing.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
  • Develop and conduct peer reviews to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary.
  • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications - verbally or through written documentation to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Manage projects from inception to delivery.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as directed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Business, or equivalent work experience.
