Aaron Murphy Interiors is Hiring an Interior Designer Near Rapids, IA

Aaron Murphy Interiors is an established Cedar Rapids interior design studio specializing in residential new construction and remodel projects. Our small firm and diverse staff give studio members guidance and leadership opportunities with experience in all aspects of the many types of projects we are designing in Iowa and beyond.

We are seeking an Associate Interior Designer with 2 years of post-graduate, professional experience. Applicants should possess exceptional, demonstrated design talent, be self-driven and motivated, and thrive in a collaborative environment.

The position will involve:

  • Working closely with the principal and associate staff on all project phases
  • Engaging in design studies, 3D representation, product and material research
  • Understanding site considerations, and client requirements to determine their impact on designs
  • Coordinating with vendors, manufacturers, and fabricators
  • Producing FF&E documents, including specification manuals, budgets, and custom drawings
  • Assisting in the purchase, delivery, and installation of FF&E
  • Updating and helping organize the material library

Qualities of the ideal candidate will include:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field
  • Eagerness to learn about scheduling and budgeting
  • Experience in selecting, specifying, and detailing interior finishes and custom furniture
  • Strong knowledge of furniture construction and materials
  • Good vendor network for both off-the-shelf and custom products
  • Extremely organized, and able to track long lead items
  • Experience in the creation of detailed proposals, digital client presentations and finish schedules
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Chief Architect/Home Designer, or SketchUp
  • Excellent rendering skills. Hand sketching ability a plus

Salary: $36,000 - 50,000

Job Type: Hybrid, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Anticipated Schedule: 20-25 hours per week
