Job Summary: Responsible for the overall management, leadership and clinical quality of the rehabilitation department. Job role includes both direct and indirect services which includes the management, monitoring and support to all operational, administrative and clinical services at the center ensuring quality and consistency with company standards. Actively promotes facilities mission, philosophies and beliefs in all daily interaction. Supports all Rehabilitation staff therapists in the establishment of positive and interactive relationships.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

Representative Duties: (including but not limited to)

  • Responsible person for directing and maintaining departmental staffing to census and budget managing use of per diem, overtime as well as planning pro-actively for vacation and weekend coverage. Will assist in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of all new rehab staff as well as employee performance reviews and counseling in accordance with Watervilles policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring that quality and appropriateness of patient care meets or exceeds company and industry standards and ensures all rehabilitation services are in compliance with state and federal legal, regulatory, accreditation and reimbursement guidelines as well as federal, state and local laws.
  • Provides coordination of all services provided by rehab department while ensuring standards of practice are aligned with Medicare and other reimbursement regulators as it relates to accuracy and timeliness of billing and documentation as well as additional supervisory aspects of rehab services specific to each discipline.
  • Attends weekly medicare meetings and presents patient status, progress and assist in discharge planning as well as any follow up needs or items.
  • Attends other facility requested meetings per Administrator requests and reports to team based on parameters and objective of the meeting.
  • Serves as a liaison between rehab department and center staff, physicians as well as families presenting a courteous, compassionate and respectful manner at all times.
  • Ensures that the rehab staff complies with all safety and compliance protocols and programs as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Completes weekly payroll per center policy ensuring accuracy of time etc.
  • Responsible to perform QA and report to QA committee per ADM. Collaborates with facility leaders in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising and monitoring facility wide performance improvement activities.
  • Plans and recommends to Administrator equipment or modifications needed to provide resident care.
  • Works collaboratively with rehab consultant to improve areas of performance as well as development of programming.
  • Participates in and plans inservice programs directly related to rehab services as well as center regulatory education required for compliance.
  • Plans and coordinates with the Administrator, utilizing the respective service managers for planning the budgeting requirements for staff, performance of work, supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from approved departmental budgets Orders supplies, maintains purchase orders, invoicing and communicates with administration. Responsible for annual budget implementation and follow through. Works closely with facility Administration
  • Ensures work areas are kept clean, neat and safe environment
  • Provides leadership to all clinicians within programs in the promotion of Waterville clinical values and commitment to clinical integrity. Routinely demonstrates a patient centered focus of making clinical and operational decisions and when needed assist in supervision of students and education of affiliating students.
  • Attends and participates in workshops, seminars, etc. to keep abreast of current changes in the industry as well as to maintain a professional status.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient/resident care information to ensure that patient/resident’s rights are protected. entiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to anticipate customer needs and to respond effectively and efficiently.

  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards.
  • Maintains and ensures resident confidentiality at all times.

  • Attends annual review and performs departmental inservices.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with, departments and staff.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attends committee, CQI and management meetings, as appropriate.
  • Resolves staff concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to staff and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Promotes a positive work environment and supportive of co-workers

Regulatory Requirements:

  • None Required.
  • Licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist.

Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge.
