Description

Job Summary: Under minimal direction, this employee should be responsible for the sale of AAON equipment and systems to owners. Interfaces with AAON independent representatives and additional customer types such as engineers, architects, contractors and consultants. In partnership with the AAON sales team they will build and manage long term customer relationships. The function of an outside salesperson should be as follows.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Demonstrates technical expertise to develop credibility, loyalty, trust, and commitment.

* Determines project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all the customer's HVAC system design and installation requirements.

* Writes, presents, and communicates bids effectively. Negotiates value and closes the sale.

* Influences system design and solutions with customers positively and credibly. Creates competitive, high quality and timely estimates, bids, proposals, and cost/benefit analysis.

* Manages multiple, ongoing, projects particularly focusing on selling HVAC equipment, service, and systems.

* Builds partnering relationships with customers. Understands the customer's business and speaks their language.

* Supports and assists in the accounts receivable collection process.

* Addresses customer's operational and environmental objectives, needs and requirements and sells solutions.

* Solicits support from and communicates effectively with the entire sales team and inside sales support staff.

* Assists in the development of the sales team.

* Keeps Team Leader informed of progress and account status. Knows when to call for assistance from upper management to keep the sales process moving.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and three or more years of HVAC Equipment Sales or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PE, MBA and/or progressive field sales experience is a plus. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning or construction industry experience is a must.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Excellent initiative, and interpersonal communications skills.

* Demonstrated ability to influence the market at key levels.

* Strong PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

* Ability to comprehend instructions, memos, and correspondence.

* Effective written and verbal communication skills for presenting information to various audiences.

* Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations and unit conversions.

* Capability to calculate rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.

* Aptitude for applying common sense to follow instructions and solve problems in diverse situations, while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Essential Physical Functions:

* Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

* Able to be comfortably seated at a desk for prolonged periods of time.

* Work may require frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.

* Ability to travel as the job may require visiting customers and project sites.
