AADAP is Hiring a Bridge Housing Caseworker Near Los Angeles, CA

Summary Statement

Under the general supervision of the TC Unit Coordinator, the Bridge Housing Caseworker will work with all AADAP treatment modalities in compliance with SAPC guidelines to manage and supervise the St. Elmo House and Bronson House residents. The position requires providing input and support for all members of the houses as it pertains to the meeting of the resident’s recovery goals. The Bridge Housing Caseworker’s role and responsibility includes supervising the Resident and the daily operations of both Housing Centers. The Bridge Housing Caseworker will also, assist the Agency in providing transportation needs for residents as needed and ensure that all staff team decisions governing resident treatment needs are adequately enforced.

Role and Responsibilities

1. MANAGE AND SUPERVISE ST. ELMO AND BRONSON HOUSE RESIDENTS: (70%)

  • Conduct initial interview of all referrals to Bridge Housing to ensure appropriateness.
  • Assist in orienting new residents to the policies and procedures of the Bridge Housing.
  • Assist in coordination of resident’s compliance with treatment and recovery goals.
  • Conduct weekly House Meetings to ensure operations, problem solving, and conflict resolution to maintain integrity of Bridge Housing.
  • Assign weekly chores to maintain cleanliness of common areas used by residents.
  • Assist in the management of all facility maintenance issues.
  • Manage resident and facility crisis situations to resolve conflict.
  • Complete and file all appropriate incident reports per agency requirements.
  • Assist TC program in meeting SAPC requirements as needed.

2. SERVE AS LIAISON BETWEEN PROGRAM STAFF AND THE RESIDENT POPULATION (25%):

  • Participate in the weekly TC Staff supervisory meetings.
  • Provide feedback on observations made on Bridge Housing residents activities and interactions.
  • Assist in the development of Bridge Housing residents recovery goals and objectives as appropriate.
  • Document all significant developments and interaction using agency, state, county and federal guidelines.
  • Provide appropriate referrals for permanent housing, food, and clothing.
  • Assist Bridge Housing residents with meeting recovery goals through appropriate referrals and enrollment in LAHSA Data Bank system.

3. ASSIST WITH COORDINATION AND FACILITATION OF THE TRANSPORTATION NEEDS OF THE BRIDGE HOUSING RESIDENTS (5%)

  • Provide bus tokens to Bridge Housing residents as needed
  • Assist with Agency resident’s transportation as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Regular work schedule may need to be adjusted for specific situations as dictated by program needs.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Two years of college education related to field or equivalent work experience related to position.
  • Valid California Drivers License with proof of Automobile Liability Insurance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in computer operations.
  • Complete physical examination and TB test upon hiring.
  • Class B Drivers License / or ability to meet requirement within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Skills

  • Four (4) years of college education related to field or equivalent work experience related to position.
  • Alcohol and Drug certification from a State certified organization.
  • Experienced with Therapeutic Community as a treatment modality.
  • Experience with group facilitation process.
  • Knowledge of 12 -Step Recovery process
  • Bilingual or bicultural capabilities with Los Angeles County threshold languages: Arabic, Armenian, Cantonese, Farsi, Urdu, Khmer (Cambodian), Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and other Chinese languages.

General Requirements and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Permanent resident or U.S. Citizen; proof of work eligibility upon hiring.
  • Must have three (3) years of recovery or drug free lifestyle as of the date of the application.
  • Must provide proof of full vaccination and 1st Booster against Covid-19 upon hiring.
  • Ability to get along well with others, be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with professional appearance and conduct.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, clients and their families, community organizations, and the general public.
  • Ability to be culturally competent of age groups, gender identity, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, and diverse cultures.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate Duty

This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting reaching, working or irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Ascending and descending ladders and staircase will be more frequent. An example is this position frequently will be moving and organizing agency supplies.
