The Senior Media Spokesperson is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive media outreach strategies to promote the organization's objectives. They represent AAA Northeast in media interactions, serving as the primary point of contact for media inquiries. The Senior Media Spokesperson is involved in managing key relationships, developing high-level communication plans, and ensuring the brand maintains a positive public image and reputation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Develop clear and impactful content aligned with the club’s goals and values, ensuring consistency in messaging across different media channels and platforms. Craft press releases, statements, talking points, social media content and other media materials to effectively convey key messages to the media and the public
Serve as a primary spokesperson for the Club and effectively communicate key messages, policy positions, and initiatives to the media. Manage media inquiries, interview requests, and prepare spokespersons for media interactions. Assist in daily maintenance of AAA Northeast’s Newsroom
Partner internally and externally on media technology and monitoring efforts, producing media metrics, sentiment, and engagement to assess the impact of media outreach efforts. Provide regular reports and recommendations for optimizing media strategies. Monitor media coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities and potential risks
Develop and implement media outreach strategies to maximize media coverage and promote the organization's initiatives. Identify and engage with target media outlets and stakeholders including journalists, government officials, industry leaders, advocacy groups, and community organizations, to build support for the organization's objectives
Plan, publicize and orchestrate press conferences and transportation and traffic safety summits to focus media attention on AAA initiatives and heighten the Club’s public profile in assigned territory
Respond to routine member inquiries and work with Member Relations, as necessary, to diffuse possible unfavorable publicity
Familiar with the objectives of assigned business line(s) to develop newsworthy content and pitch stories to media in support of business line goals
WHAT YOU NEED
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field required
Master's Degree preferred
6 years of proven experience in Media Relations, Public Affairs, Communications, or related roles
Excellent communication skills in Spanish both written and verbal
Able to work a hybrid work model in our Garden City, NY office
The salary range for this position is $77,300 - $88,500
