AA Recovery Solutions is Hiring a Compliance Specialist- Collections Near Amherst, NY

Position: Compliance Specialist

Overview:

The Compliance Specialist has overall responsibility of the account flow and developing an efficient consumer and client focused process of the handling of collection accounts, as well as the overall Federal and State law compliance for the company. The Compliance Specialist oversees the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the agency’s privacy principles, policies, and practices. This position is responsible to the VP for implementation and management of compliance policies and procedures, as well as the management of Legal Processing and Licensing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all FDCPA, FCRA, HIPAA and applicable laws
  • Ensure that the staff is trained and updated on all federal and state consumer financial protection laws and retrain when needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state collection laws and communicate changes to the company. Recommend process/policy changes to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Communicate any problems or issues with management on an ongoing basis.
  • Handle consumer/client correspondence in a timely manner, including disputed accounts, accounts handled by an attorney, or those with other compliance concerns.
  • Complete and submit client and regulatory audits by the respective deadlines.
  • Listen to and monitor employee calls.
  • Set up call recordings on a daily basis.
  • Set up and record every employee on a monthly basis for submission to appropriate parties and create files for recording submission.
  • Ensure all submissions meet requirements and are fully compliant
  • Execute all aspects of Licensing (registration, renewals, maintenance) and certifications
  • Create and/revise compliance policies and procedures as needed, to ensure compliance with all regulations and client requirements.
  • Work with other departments to ensure client requirements and company standards are being met and adhered to.
  • Work directly with management to complete collector remediation forms; followed by administration of up-training.
  • Direct/advise and administer corrective action regarding compliance violations.
  • Respond to all complaints within 24 hours (no exceptions).
  • Correspond with Attorney network and ensure accounts flagged for suit are reviewed and processed properly.
  • Maintain the Complaint Log and ensure that all complaints are addressed as detailed in the Complaint Handling policy.
  • Assure Form Letters sent to consumers are reviewed by agency attorney before use and update form letters, as necessary.
  • Perform monthly Quality Assurance and communicate any issues to the Vice President and Operations Management.
  • Create work standards within the department and advise on work standards throughout the company that are consistent with the mission and management policy of the company.
  • Implement and maintain ongoing compliance training for all staff.
  • Initiate and promote activities to foster compliance awareness within the company.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve procedural issues.
  • Represent the agency with the professional and ethical work standards consistent with the mission and management policy of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
  • Experience in collections or compliance
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated high level initiative, proven ability to work independently, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment
  • Strong management skills to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting and administrative responsibilities of this position
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the industry and industry-related trends and forecasts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other computer software
