A2 Hosting is Hiring a Data Center Technician (Southfield, Michigan) Near Southfield, MI

***Position is located in Southfield, MI, not remote***

A2 Hosting is currently seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to join our team. The Data Center Technician will manage both local and remote data centers with our primary location being in Southfield, MI. On a day to day basis, you will work to ensure uptime for all of our customers, racking new hardware, diagnosing and replacing failed components, and coordinating the actions of remote hands in our remote data centers.

SPECIFIC ROLE INFORMATION

Location: Southfield, MI

This position is NOT Remote. Candidate must be able and willing to commute to our data center in Southfield, Michigan for their shift.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00am- 3:00pm Eastern Time.

What you'll do

Perform ongoing maintenance on servers and network equipment

Respond to server and network component failure issues and maintain communications and support to team members as needed

Run hardware diagnostics and replace failing parts to ensure continuous performance and maximum uptime

Provide guidance on capacity planning to ensure sufficient capacity at each data center

Upgrade internal system components, including CPUs, memory, hard drives, and networking equipment components

Document processes and keep thorough event logs

Identify, research, and advise on the procurement of new data center equipment

Research and stay informed of emerging tools, trends, and technologies that would be beneficial to the data center team and organization as a whole

Troubleshoot with hardware vendors to determine and resolve complex hardware issues

Work with remote datacenters to assist with hardware replacements

Skills and Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years experience as a Data Center Technician, with in-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment

Experience working with Linux; especially focusing on hardware management including MDADM, LVM, ZFS, etc.

Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment

Ability

Team focused mentality with the ability to collaborate, communicate, and problem solve alongside team members at all levels of the organization

High level of p roficiency in creating and maintaining thorough documentation

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English to communicate with team members and leadership

Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday, with frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling required to access equipment at various heights

Ability to work in a high-noise environment with potential temperature variations, such as hot aisles and cold aisles in the data center
