Headquartered in Orange, California, A-Tech is searching for an ambitious Field Operations Supervisor to join our team and be instrumental as we move to the next level.
Job Summary
The Field Operations Supervisor (FOS) will work under the direction of the Field Operations Manager (FOM) for the building science department. The ideal candidate will manage Field Technicians and operations; focusing on training, on site drop in's, time sheet audits, and inter-departmental coordination. Must excel in training development, staff support, and embody our core values. Strong capabilities as a Project Industrial Hygienist required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Regularly conduct field site visits, auditing employee competency, professionalism, equipment, and vehicle condition, and conduct any on-site training, and job hazard evaluations as needed, average of 3 times a week.
- Conduct on-site training of field staff for a variety of services such as bacteria, water loss, mold, asbestos, lead, rodent, dusts, smoke and soot, water testing, etc. Ensure a senior technician is paired with another technician or trainee with less experience with that project type when creating the project’s schedule. This will allow for the best training opportunities.
- Foster camaraderie and sense of appreciation through providing recognition for above and beyond, having a positive attitude, and demonstrating good work ethic. Determine ways to motivate staff individually and as a team and build team unity. Facilitate team events.
- Bi-weekly pre-review field employee timesheets, to confirm accuracy, scheduled days of work, meal period completion, overtime tracking, etc. Assist with reduction of Meal Period Violations and overtime.
- Continue training opportunities for all techs as they progress in their career. Work with management team to maintain roadmaps for technicians wanting to further their development. This will include the 30-60-90s training plans, and trainee roadmaps.
- Continually review schedule and ensure scheduling is occurring in accordance with the skill set of technicians.
-Meet weekly and as needed with Project Manager and Project Coordinators to update on morale, skills, improvements, communication needs, errors, and corrections, etc. Be the liaison between the office and field staff to allow for increased awareness and communication both ways.
- Assist the Field Operations Manager with annual performance reviews or disciplinary actions, such as PIPs or COCs, as needed.
-Assist with onboarding and overseeing training of any new hire within the field department.
- Assist with onboarding, oversee, and manage training of all new Field Trainees, ensuring they are receiving appropriate training and job exposure.
- Assist with CSST Test prep training.
- Assist in facilitating biweekly tech training in conjunction with the Project Managers and Management team. Maintain records of training topics, dates and attendance.
- Performs QA/QC verification of field projects, assist PMs with ensuring project specifications/scope, documents issues, and support the Reports staff with mitigating ES2 input nonconformities.
- Assist in facilitating equipment, field supply, PPE, and vehicle inspections and complete reports at job site visits, and report back deficiencies or maintenance, if needed.
- Assist in the facilitation of our annual refresher courses, physicals, and respiratory fit tests in conjunction with our Operation Support Staff and PM team.
- Assist Operations with consumables management, field equipment inventory, ensuring techs properly utilize, maintain and check equipment in and out of office.
- Under the supervision of the Field Operations Manager, manage, supervise, and motivate Field Department staff. Identify personnel conflicts and negotiate solutions.
-Assist with EnviroShare 2.0 development, including relaying feedback from field employees, participating in meetings with developers, conducting beta testing, etc.
- Assist with recruiting of Certified Staff and Trainees.
- Assist with EnviroShare 2.0 training of all Field Staff.
- Conduct field jobs, as needed.
Environmental Health & Safety Requirements:
Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with ISO14001 EMS, Environmental Management System.
- Intervene and take appropriate actions on any non-conformance, possible non-conformance, or concerns affecting:
- Compliance with any known legal, regulatory or company requirements,
- Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, or other management system requirements, and
expectations or needs of other interested parties and communicate it using the appropriate company process. 
- When requested, participate in development, communication, and implementation of EHS programs.
- Communicate and follow-up as required, on any EHS concerns, incidents, near misses, or opportunities for improvement using the appropriate company process.
- Must follow all SOPs and Company Safety Rules. Utilize all required environmental controls during standard operations, and non-standard/emergency conditions.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required. PPE required includes chemical resistant gloves and protective clothing, full and/or half-face air-purifying respirators (including dust masks), ear, head, foot, and eye protection.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Have strong people management skills with the ability to identify personnel issues and motivate employees.
- Must be able to communicate with clients in a professional and experienced manner.
- Have comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines for Cal-OSHA safety, Asbestos, Lead and Mold.
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Must be able to maintain a positive and calm attitude.
- Have comprehensive understanding of Infection Control Protocols and how to implement them.
- Must be able to interpret environmental lab data and be able to make accurate recommendations.
- Understanding of respiratory requirements (respirator use, medical surveillance, fit testing, etc.).
- Have strong verbal, written and typing skills.
Required Certifications:
- Must possess a Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) certification, Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) certification preferred.
- Must possess either CDPH Inspector Assessor or Project Manager.
- Additional industry certifications a plus OSHA 40, HAZWOPER, CMI, CIEC, ICCRC etc.
- Have a NIOSH 582 equivalency certification to analyze asbestos air PCM samples.
- Must be able to pass an asbestos physical, including a pulmonary function test.
- Having a mold micro or ACAC course certifications is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Must remain clean shaven or be willing to shave when needed, to appropriately retain seal on respirator.
- Must be a leader and example to the team, understand and portray the core values of A-Tech Consulting.
- Continue to evolve in competency in environmental testing and reporting procedures such as IAQ Assessments, Legionella testing, Radon testing, Construction Monitoring, VOC testing, noise dosimeter monitoring and HAZMAT assessments.
- Ability to work long hours, including overtime and on weekends.
- Be available and responsive to incoming projects and technician requests.
- Must have a valid Drivers’ License and acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and handle field equipment: 10-15 pounds frequently, 20-40 pounds moderately, and 40 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to travel and spend long periods of time in a vehicle. 
- Ability to travel to other branches to provide support.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to engage in conversation and attentive listening. The employee will frequently be required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee will occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
