Job Title: Music Production Intern

Hours: Monday-Friday 20 hours per week
A Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth and community center in South Central Los Angeles. APCH provides educational programs, counseling, mentoring, music, dance and art classes, fitness and health and wellness opportunities. As youth participate in our programs, they discover interests and talents and develop a better sense of themselves and their place in the world around them. Our goal is to increase the likelihood that youth will stay in school, pursue higher education, attain viable jobs, and become active community members capable of making positive change in the world in which they live.
Internship Summary
Under the direction of, the Music Programs Sr. Manager. This internship is designed to instill the participants with the skills necessary to thrive in both the classical and contemporary music industry.Intern’s primary focus will be the management of a robust and diverse catalogue of music classes and training, the production of the APCH album and the facilitation of music programming at the annual APCH Gala for the Children. This position will work approximately 20 hours per week for June 2024 - December 2024. This is a great opportunity for a creative individual to gain the following skills for both in-person performances and digital media: Advanced audio recording and production techniques, Project Management for live music performance and music education environments, Experience working with leading industry softwares, Music administrative skills involving licensing and copyrighting, equipment management, and production documentation, and Live Event Rehearsal and Production facilitation.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Work with Music Department to support Music programs offerings.
Work with the Music team to coordinate online and in person classes and tech rehearsals and needs.
Help manage the distribution, inventory and tracking of member instruments while programming remotely and in-person programming.
Communicate and coordinate with a variety of music professionals for workshops, events, performances and classes.
Support Music Department classes in an administrative capacity (taking attendance, distributing music, etc) - sit in on classes, facilitate rehearsal schedules, reports, contact sheets.
Other Non-Essential Responsibilities
Assist with the supervision of members during program hours, special events and field trips
Serve as a mentor and role model for members
Attend all required program meetings and events
Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal Music Production intern will be an individual who carries high personal and professional standards, is resourceful and a quick problem solver by nature, and enjoys partnering with others to achieve successful outcomes. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, personable candidate who is interested in learning the administrative, technical and performance skills necessary in today's professional music industry.
