Position Title: LMS Solution Architect

Location: Hybrid, Columbia, MD

Position Summary

The APV LMS Solution Architect is responsible for assisting federal government clients to solve business problems using their knowledge and experience in IT and LMS systems. This person will design plans for LMS data migration and LMS integrations with third-party tools. The specific solutions designed must be based on the Moodle, Totara, and/or AgLearn applications. The LMS Solution Architect will work with technical and business aspects to ensure solutions meet organizational goals. 

Position Duties:

  • Work closely with client and other IT professionals to plan for the integration and implementation of a cabinet-level-wide LMS modernization
  • Review existing systems to identify areas for improvement and monitor the outcome of the upgraded LMS on business operations
  • Research, analyze, and recommend solutions that best meet the government’s needs and are aligned with the LMS strategy and roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to understand the long-term needs for learning management data, the functionality of existing systems and tools, and their requirements for the new LMS,
  • Build rapport with all stakeholders at the agency level, the user level, and the new LMS modernization level
  • Conduct a thorough requirements analysis across all agency stakeholder groups, including the documentation of the current state and future state and the analysis with recommendations for the new LMS modernization
  • Lead analysis and requirements development sessions with stakeholder groups
  • Write requirements analysis summaries and reports; develop and lead senior-level executive presentations
  • Build and lead a small team of consultants in the execution of project tasks and deliverables
  • Ensure exceptional project outcomes in a respectful and supportive culture
  • Utilize a variety of data collection techniques to obtain clear and complete assessment of current and future state of client stakeholder groups
  • Relate complex topics in simple and accessible language to all stakeholder groups.
  • Look beyond own area/organizational boundaries to consider the bigger picture and/or perspective of others and build trust-based relationships with leaders and employees
  • Use good judgment to deliver commercially sound, efficient, and pragmatic decisions and solutions, and to respond to situations as they arise

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of related solution architect experience
  • BS degree in computer science and/or related area
  • Excellent data collection and documentation skills
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple teams
  • Exp with learning standards (SCORM, xAPI)
  • Strong background in architecture with real-world experience of architecting, designing, and delivering large IT projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science and/or related area
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
