A. P. Fire Protection is seeking an individual to design and coordinate fire sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial building projects. This designer will create the finished design for the sprinkler systems using drawings, drafting skills and tools. Typical projects and types of systems includes fire sprinklers, fire pumps and high expansion foam. This individual will be responsible for completing projects with little or no supervision, including complete system design, site evaluations, and testing and commissioning of systems. The designer will have responsibility for the planning of a project including budgets, scheduling, creating material stock listing, analyzing changes, solving problems and total delivery of the project according to scope. Close coordination with all stakeholders will be required throughout the project lifecycle.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS -

• NICET III Certification
• Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14 and 20
• 3 years CAD design experience in the Architectural, Construction or MEP trade

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design automatic fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, foam, and fire pumps)
• Compile and prepare plan submittals (shop drawings) and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction
• Coordinate sprinkler design with existing structure and other MEP subcontractors
• Perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems
• Detail the design for fabrication and prepare installation drawings
• Prepare “as-built” drawings for in-house archive and client files
• Prior experience in Fire Suppression Contracting Design in the construction field
• Secure permits and approvals
• Coordination of sprinkler system with architectural, structural, and mechanical systems
• Work flexible hours if needed
• Field survey of both new and existing building
• Attend on site coordination, scheduling and construction meetings
• Identifies changes in our scope and quantify change for estimating
• Document and track change order submittal and approval
• Create Material listing
• Updating of shop drawings and materials for project record keeping
• Strong time management skills
• Close out procedures

Pay: $31.00 - $38.00 per hour
