A New Leaf’s East Valley Men’s Center is a safe haven for men facing homelessness as they re-integrate into the community. Our dedicated staff help residents build skills for job readiness, assist with finding employment and develop a plan for permanent housing. Through stable living, comprehensive services, and compassionate attention to the challenges each man faces, A New Leaf helps men experiencing homelessness find their feet and become contributing members of the community once again.In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of shelter residents during nighttime hours. Our Support Partners collaborate with other staff members to maintain a clean and organized environment, document incidents/observations in accordance with agency protocols, and provide assistance to residents as needed.Pay: $17.35 - $19.35 (depending on years of experience)Schedule: Monday - Thursday; 9pm - 7amLocation: Mesa, AZ*Required to complete our "New Hire Orientation" held on the first work week of employment, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm; subject to change upon completion of orientation requirements which may grant early release of orientation before Friday; orientation not offered evenings or weekends.QUALIFICATIONSEducation:High school diploma or GED required.Experience:Experience working with homeless or economically disadvantaged population preferred, but not required.Demonstrate and provide strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.Committed to teamwork and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Demonstrate a basic understanding of Trauma Informed Care.The skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse ethnic and cultural groups, coupled with maintaining professionalism at all times.Primary Responsibilities:Document (verbal/written) and submit significant and routine paperwork such as shift reports, daily activities, special concerns, client entry/exit forms, etc.Answer and screen phone calls (multiple lines),and be able to provide resources/screening crisis calls.Assist with the introduction of program and facility orientation.Brief residents on program rules, chores, housekeeping requirements, fire safety instructions, social distancing, Universal precautions and assuring adherence.Participate in resident supervision on a regular basis as required by state law and A New Leaf policy.Provide varied verbal and physical crisis interventions as needed.Assist with maintaining program appearance; cleanliness and maintenance of agency physical plant, equipment and/or agency vehicles. May report repairs and maintenance needs.Prepare and/or assist with meal/snack preparation serving, and cleanup. Responsible for overseeing and coordination of Volunteer Meal Program.Able to operate 12-15 passenger vehicles, when necessary. May be required to pick up and transport donations to the Shelter and/or our Donation Center.Assist with “wake-up” call, Complete all job duties on duty list, and Assist with client intake/exit paperwork as needed.Monitor security of the property through quarterly hour ground checks.Compliance Requirements:Must be at least 21 years of ageMust pass pre-employment drug testValid Driver’s License with reliable transportationCurrent Auto Liability InsuranceMust be able to obtain Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card immediately upon hire (if there are any uncertainties whether an applicant may have to go through an appeal process; they are encouraged to complete that process prior to applying as an invalid card will result in termination of employment)
