Company DescriptionA Mother's Touch Child Development Center is recognized in the State of NC as a 4 Star Center which provides care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. We offer the same programs, services and educational enrichments as a larger daycare facility, but in a home environment that is both familiar and relaxing for young children. Our small size helps us to provide personalized and individual attention for every child in our care. We have been in operation since January 2000 serving a diverse group of families and needs.Job DescriptionInfant and toddler teachers aid in the cognitive and social development of preschoolers. Working with children through age 3, they must teach the most basic social skills focusing on play-centered learning and creativity rather than intense curricular standards. Typical duties: While the activities vary, infant and toddler teachers focus primarily on teaching children to share, express themselves, communicate, and collaborate well with others, follow their curiosity, and further their language and vocabulary development.Other day-to-day duties can include:Teaching basic skills such as color, shape, numbers, and letter recognitionPlanning and carrying out curriculumHelping children develop positive self-images and experience successEncouraging the exploration of interests and developmental social skillsDeveloping schedules and routines ensuring physical activity, rest, and playtimeTeaching children how to play fairly with othersDisciplining bad behavior and rewarding good behaviorObserving, assessing, and documenting each assigned child’s health, skills, behavior, growth, and developmentIdentifying any physical or mental development concerns in assigned childrenMeeting with parents to discuss concernsOptimizing children’s developmental, intellectual, and social achievements in class activitiesProviding leadership and guidance to other staff and colleaguesCreating and leading a supportive, nurturing learning environment that encourages responsibility and motivationNatural Qualities Found in Successful Infant and Toddler Teachers:Excited by the learning of young childrenEmpathetic and caringPatient and kindGood at planning and organizingCreative and flexibleEnthusiastic about learningPassionate yet pragmaticFull of energyAble to have a sense of humor yet remain respectful of differencesWilling to take risks for the sake of the childrenKnowledgeable in child development and milestones associated with each age groupQualified with the proper credentials and degreesQualificationsEducation: High school diploma, Associates, CDA, TCC or EDU119 (Required)CPR/First AidAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
