A.L. Adams Construction Company, LLC is looking to fill an immediate opening for a Traveling Construction Superintendent for its projects throughout the SoutheastThis is an opportunity to join a growing company offering a competitive base salary, industry-leading benefits, and bonus payouts on each project based on performance.

Superintendents are responsible for providing on-site coordination for all phases of construction from planning to completion. They are responsible for helping to coordinate subcontractors, materials, and equipment, ensuring specifications are being strictly followed and that work is on schedule. Superintendents are required to travel and/or relocate for the duration of the projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand plans of the projects and all subcontractor scopes.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are working with the latest documents.
  • Oversee all aspects of field operations at project sites.
  • Reviewing and becoming familiar with the schedule and budget and ensuring adherence to these.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager any issues at the project sites.
  • Monitor schedule and update the Project Manager weekly.
  • Prepare weekly progress updates, photographs, and work with the Project Manager to update the schedule for Owner weekly reporting.
  • Prepare 2-week look ahead schedules.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings for various crafts as their work is about to start.
  • Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings to ensure project is on schedule with no complications.
  • Prepare expense reports and maintain receipts per Company policy.
  • Understand the requirements of the Contract Documents to ensure the subcontractors have completed all work within their scope.
  • Inspect work as installed.
  • Maintain a clean jobsite and use clean-up notice to keep subcontractors performing their clean-up.
  • Document daily reports, photographs and other appropriate measures per Company policy.
  • Implement A.L. Adams Construction Company, LLC safety program as described in Company Safety Manual.
  • Inspect site daily for conformance to OSHA and Company safety standards.
  • Conduct weekly safety "toolbox" meetings and keep written record of meetings.
  • Check equipment weekly and fill out equipment inspection report.
  • As equipment is rented, maintain equipment rental log, and monitor against equipment requirements log and equipment budget.
  • Review monthly small tool and expendables costs to stay in budget.
  • Implement the Quality Control Program per Company policy.
  • Maintain standards of personal appearance fitting for the role of Superintendent.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • 3-10 years’ experience as a construction field superintendent on commercial projects.
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office Suite
  • Consistently motivate workers and peers in a positive way to achieve the best outcome.
  • Ability to work in a high-level professional environment.
  • Effective in getting ideas accepted and in guiding a group or an individual to accomplish a task.
  • Ability to reach sound, logical conclusions based on the information at hand.
  • Effective in arranging own activities and those of a group to provide effective courses of action. Work effectively with other organizations.
  • Actively influence events; acts independently or without specific instruction within the scope of accountabilities. Understands limits.
  • Ready to make decisions or to render judgments. Ability to use problem solving process.
  • Have firm grasp of fundamental principles and concepts in profession. Knows sources of latest information and keeps up to date.
