A Federal Credit Union is Hiring a Programmer I Near Austin, TX

Programmer I

Job Type: Full-Time

Exemption Type: Exempt

Wage Amount: $39.60 minimum

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Credit Union in achieving its mission of being our member’s first choice as their partner to help them make informed financial decisions. Your role to achieve this mission will be to complete programming projects for the Credit Union, and to insure accurate and efficient utilization of computing resources. Support a sales and service culture.

Essential Functions:

  • Completes all programming assignments in a timely manner in accordance with internal programming standards and procedures. Requests support from senior programming staff or management as needed to perform this function.
  • Writes or enhances customized reports, letters, and internal forms to provide data output to end-users.
  • Design and maintain HTML & JavaScript applications.
  • As needed develop and maintain back end C# services.
  • Analyzes the feasibility of programming projects by gathering specifications and other information from departments. Evaluates system capabilities and recommends programming solutions. Requests support from senior programming staff or management as needed to perform this function.
  • Assists departments in understanding programming modifications/enhancements that have been performed so that they can independently validate that the programming changes have been completed as specified.
  • Consults with other employees regarding the use of software systems. This may include answering questions or suggesting improvements based on knowledge of the system or information from senior programming staff or management.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the core processing system in order to perform system upgrades, maintain system security and data integrity, and assist with daily, weekly, and monthly processing as needed.
  • Analyzes requirements and provides data extracts used for system interfaces and special projects as assigned.
  • Assists vendor software support staff and service technicians with troubleshooting hardware and software problems, addressing issues related to system functionality, and working with interfaces between systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years of experience in related field required
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of front-end engineering using JavaScript and CSS frameworks such as AngularJS, React, YUI, or Bootstrap
  • Intermediate knowledge of C# and ASP.NET ecosystem
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
  • Strong logical ability and the ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including late nights and weekends
  • General knowledge of the financial industry
  • Working knowledge of A FCU policies and procedures
  • Basic math/accounting skills, research and problem solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Physical Functions

  • Must be able to engage in problem-solving skills to help identify and solve potential issues in the field

  • Evaluating programming project requirements and selecting appropriate design for programming solutions
  • Evaluating hardware and software problems, determining severity of problems, and actions needed
  • Adjusting schedules to insure all jobs are posted in an efficient manner
