OverviewA-dec is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support, improve, and grow the Machining and Part Fabrication capabilities of our vertically-integrated dental equipment operations. In this role, you will be engaged in the implementation of strategic product development (design reviews, DFM, quoting, make/buy, etc.), continual process improvement and manufacturing capability advancement projects. Leveraging your experience and training you will support a vertically integrated operation best characterized as "mid-volume, mid-mix" with varied manufacturing capabilities including horizontal milling w/ pallet systems, multi-axis and multi-spindle lathes, machine tending robots, and a large compliment of secondary processes such as parts washing, surface finishing, and CMM inspection.
Develops and applies advanced manufacturing engineering theories, methods and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems necessary for the improvement of existing processes and the introduction of new
manufacturing products and processes.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Plans, schedules, and leads large technical project assignments or technical assignments of major complexity within a specific manufacturing engineering specialty. Evaluates, selects and adapts various manufacturing engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet project requirements. Leads cross-departmental manufacturing teams, provides technical direction and acts as a mentor to other Manufacturing Engineers and technicians.
  • Provides complex problem solving and technical support in the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of manufacturing processes and new products; acts as primary technical resource for all manufacturing engineering projects.
  • Oversees the development of production and process control information, prepares technical analysis, recommends manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Tracks and resolves project related issues; collaborates and communicates project progress with team members and management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Master’s degree or relevant certifications (project management, lean sigma, etc.) preferred. 8 years of technical process design and project execution experience in process/manufacturing engineering.
  • Ability to apply interpretations of other related engineering disciplines to the specific area of technical expertise. Demonstrated experience with conventional project management; strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams.
  • Above average ability to effectively communicate in oral, written and graphical form.
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
