Job Summary:
Under the leadership of the Superintendent, the Equity Coordinator leads the equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts of the District. The Coordinator collaborates with District and building leaders at all levels to advance and evaluate the effectiveness of strategic efforts with the goal of equitable access, support, and success for all.

Qualifications

Job Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the organization’s equity goals;
  • Provides leadership, training, consultation, and support to administrators, teachers, and school-based leadership teams focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion;
  • Collaborates with staff in selecting and/or designing evidence-based interventions to address issues that emanate from community, parental, student, and staff diversity;
  • Co-develops programs and develops programs and services with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction that will support and enhance the academic, social-emotional, and overall success of all students;
  • Assists the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in the development and coordination of effective communication strategies that will enable the office to support, enhance, and celebrate cultural diversity efforts in schools and across the District;
  • Plans, designs, organizes, prepares, and delivers professional development which addresses race, equity, and cultural competence of all District staff;
  • Provides consultation and professional development to District staff related to issues of diversity that affect teaching and learning, culture, and educational engagement;
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in the development and implementation of programs and curricula to improve the academic performance of all students;
  • Collaborates with other departments to provide leadership that helps to build the capacity of instructional staff to use culturally responsive teaching, and pedagogy and practices that support and enhance student learning;
  • Co-develops initiatives in alignment with the Cook County School District 130 Strategic Plan that promote academic and social engagement for all students across the District, and that cultivate awareness and understanding of equity;
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with community organizations to promote the District’s equity and student achievement initiatives;
  • Monitors multiple data points to coordinate and collaborate with departments responsible for closing achievement gaps and report findings/recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and Benefits:

  • Starting salary of $70,000, including Board paid TRS;
  • Salary is commensurate with experience; and includes a competitive benefits package;
  • Employee assistance program offered to employees and their immediate family members.

Additional Notes

Working Conditions:

  • 11 month position (August through June)
  • Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
