The Buyer III has the responsibility for providing purchasing support to all phases of the Company’s operations, to ensure on time delivery of the highest quality of products to meet our customers’ expectations and the production schedule with specific focus on sourcing and procuring. A Buyer III also assesses opportunity and acts to reduce material and operating costs by maintaining effective relationships with internal clients and suppliers. This position adheres to and practices core values of ownership, passion, honesty, and respect in every facet of the position.


Reports to:
Procurement Manager


Essential duties:

  • Develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with suppliers.
  • Develops and executes effective bidding, negotiating, and pricing strategies for all sourcing needs.
  • Negotiates pricing, terms and delivery with supply sources.
  • Assist in further developing the analysis, evaluation and modification of purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Drive innovation and focus activities on continuous improvement within the Supply Chain organization.
  • Monitors raw material inventory. Conducts cycle counts as needed and participates in the inventory process.
  • Stays abreast of market changes, trends and fluctuations. Communicates internally on market conditions, trends and pricing.
  • Proven ability to research and generate reports.
  • Works closely with plant and field operations, product design and labor estimating.
  • Measures and tracks vendor performance for quality and timely delivery.
  • Proven ability to effectively vet and approve vendors and manage supplier scorecard to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Makes recommendations on policies and procedures as needed to ensure the success and compliance of all procurement related activities.
  • Coordinates routinely with all other departments to assure effective and timely coordination and teamwork in purchasing goods and services. Provides research, guidance and direction by presenting available options.


Qualifications, Required Skills, Competencies, and Personal Attributes

To perform this job successfully, an individual must serve as the subject matter expert and be strategic in planning and execution. Must be able to perform each essential duty proactively, anticipating challenges and with forward-thinking. Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, contract management and/or closely related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply chain management, supplier relationships.
Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience preferred
Fraction experience preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of commodities in area of specialization
Establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of business personnel
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
Detail-oriented and multi-tasking skills
