Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Our flour unloading system is where it all begins!

Our Flour Operator works closely with the Production Scheduler and Operations to ensure that raw ingredients are safely and corrected received into the facility. This position monitors raw ingredient inventory levels and operates our flour unloading system to remove flour from rail cars and trucks that bring the materials to our site. A successful Flour Operator is one who has a passion for safety and vows to operate heavy machinery to reposition railcars and trucks as part of the flour unloading process. This role will occasionally work at heights to remove food pesticides from incoming railcars- comfort and a willingness to work at heights is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Partner with Production Scheduler to understand production runs and raw material supply needs; review raw ingredient bin storage levels and prepare facilities to receive raw materials

· Operate flour unloading system according to standard operating procedures; monitor gauges to ensure raw ingredient bins are not overloaded and to ensure that the system does not malfunction due to incorrect product movement

· Operate track mobile to move rail cars safely into appropriate positions and according to production run schedule; ensure appropriate safe guards and railings are placed in the correct position to prevent employees from accessing tracking during movement and ensure overall employee safety

· Operate track mobile to move railcars away from truck unloading area; assist drivers of trucks in directing vehicles to the correct part of the flour unloading system area. Check seals prior to engaging flour unloading system according to quality and food safety standards to ensure product is tamper free

· Perform inventory checks for ingredient levels and bin space usage rates; document bin levels and product-on-track levels according to established procedures and provide documentation to scheduling and operations in a timely manner

· Responsible for safely removing pesticide toxin tablets from rail car system; appropriately wear safety gear, cables, and harnesses and ensure safety spotter is available during railcar access. Safely dispose of pesticides in appropriate containers and according to laws, regulations and standard operating procedures

Perform preventative maintenance on the flour unloading system twice per year. Use tools and standard operating procedures to access flour unloading system. Remove, change, and clean filters and clean out system as part of fumigation schedules. Use tools to reconstruct system before use

· Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

· Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime

· High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution

· Must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts

· Experience with ingredient unloading systems

· Experience operating heavy machinery

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

· Previous manufacturing experience

· Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment

· Previous experience repairing equipment or performing preventative maintenance

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

· Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, sit, stoop, reach above shoulders, and climb/work off a ladder for 4 hours per shift

· Must be able to stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift

· Must be able to work in a dusty environment, high heat, humidity, and cold for 4 hours per shift

· Must be able to perform simple grasping for 8 hours per shift

· Must be able to push, pull, feel, and perform fine manipulation for 4 hours per shift

· Must be able to operate foot pedals for 4 hours per shift

· Must be able to lift up-to 34 pounds for 8 hours per shift

· Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds for 4 hours per shift

· Must be able to safely wear a respirator to perform job duties

· Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, express or exchange ideas by written and spoken word, and distinguish objects and equipment visually
