Number of Openings 1 Time Type Full time Job Description Talen Energy is seeking an experienced civil / structural engineer for their fossil fleet central engineering group. The position will support various projects, testing, and fleet-wide engineering initiatives involving multiple Northeast / Mid-Atlantic Talen power plants and Talen Fleet initiatives. Job Summary Under general direction, responsible for engineering activities associated with civil/structural activities at Talen Energy PJM Fossil. Works independently with minimal guidance using knowledge of civil engineering concepts. May provide guidance and direction to other Talen Energy employees to support production of high quality, timely and cost-effective engineering solutions to technical problems. Primary Responsibilities Provide technical expertise and consultation to identify/resolve equipment and system problems. Works with minimal supervision in a variety of engineering functions either in field locations or home office, which may include activities to assess plant component condition or function and to develop design or specification packages to add/modify systems and components. Serve as a technical leader in specific areas. Uses engineering principles to provide technically correct and cost-effective recommendations that solve design concerns. Act as a technical resource for plant-based engineers and other engineering disciples. Builds relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively. Assists with developing procedures, improving design recommendations and new equipment purchase recommendations. At times serves as project sponsor and presents the results of the project team efforts. May be required to review or, depending on position level, approve, design work completed by contractors and be a key interface with others Providing support for outages, emergent issues and generation challenges which may require shift work/off hours. Ability to inspect structures, systems, and components in the industrial areas of fossil power plants. Requirements Senior Engineer BS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Minimum of five years related civil or structural engineering experience Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania, or a Licensed Professional Engineer in another state with the ability to obtain Pennsylvania Licensing within a year of hire. Principal Engineer Meets Senior Engineer Requirements Minimum of ten years related civil or structural engineering experience. Preferred Knowledge and Experience Power Plant Experience Familiarity with industrial equipment foundations and supports Working knowledge of drafting standards and workflows Familiarity with industry codes and standards Structural steel and reinforced concrete design/analysis Performance on multi-discipline project teams Note: You will have an opportunity to add attachments to your application.
