5 Canyons Logistics (5CL) is a contracted Transportation Service Provider (TSP) for FedEx Ground (FXG) and other FedEx divisions. Due to recent growth and expansion into other areas of our business, 5CL is hiring another full- time Linehaul Operations Manager, sometimes also known as a Driver Manager and Fleet Manager, located in the Salt Lake City, UT area. This position will be a key leader at the center of a fast-paced team environment. Our mission is to constantly apply the highest standards in safety, service availability, reliability, and employee retention, while we seek areas of growth for the company and its employees.
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Linehaul Operations Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operations and efficiency of the company by leading and participating in areas such as, all operations activities; safety compliance; vehicle/driver dispatch; driver management; reset & layover management; tractor management, accidents, repair, & maintenance; vendor management; recruiting, etc., while upholding the performance, safety, and reliability standards set forth by FedEx Ground (FXG) and 5CL.
  • Annual Compensation as a Full-Time employee will be $70K - $80K (Depending on experience). This compensation is made up of a guaranteed annual base compensation and a performance/safety bonus. Pay is weekly.
  • Shift & Schedule – Regular work day Monday – Friday; On Call Nights, Weekends, & Holidays

High Level Job Description – This position includes all activities related to Operations, Dispatch, Driver, Vehicle/Fleet, and Safety management. The following list is an example of many of the requirements of this position but is not intended to be exhaustive. Activities might be added and/or removed over time
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Safety – Safety Compliance; Safety Training & Communications; Video Event Data Recorder (VEDR) Compliance
    & Management; Pre-Trip & Post-Trip Inspection Management; Curative Training Management and Letters;
    Roadside Inspection Management (Proper Tractor Paperwork, Reinforce VEDR KIs, etc.).
  • Dispatch Management – Driver Dispatch & Dispatch Optimization; Trailer Delivery Tracking; Reset & Layover
    Management; Time Off Management, etc.
  • Driver Management – Primary Point of Contact (Manager/Liaison/Advocate); Driver Coach & Mentor; New
    Driver Onboarding/Orientation; Driver Training & Communications; Backup Driver on extremely rare occasions.
  • Fleet/Tractor Management – Vehicle Maintenance; Vehicle Repairs; All Emergency/Roadside Repairs; Accident
    Management & Investigation; Tractor Key Management; Quarterly Vehicle Inspections (QVIs); DOT Paperwork
    Management; Leasing Company Liaison, etc.
  • Fuel Management – Fuel Cards, Compliance, Consumption Improvements.
  • Recruiting Support – Participate in interviewing driver candidates; Manage/Administer Road Tests.
  • FXG Compliance – ELD & HOS Compliance and Management; ELDP Program Management & Documentation
    Submission; Individual Vehicle Mileage Reports (IVMR) (Automated); Monthly Maintenance Reports (MMR), etc.
  • Perform Daily Routines.
  • Provide Weekly Status Reports.
  • Attend all FedEx Ground TSP Forum Meetings in person.
  • Backup to the Administrative Manager when occasion permits.
Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active CDL License with Tractor/Trailer driving experience. Preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge and application of all FMCSA guidance regarding safety and driver responsibilities. c) General DOT Knowledge.
  • Transportation, supply chain, or logistics experience.
