POSITION SUMMARY

4Roots is seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Grant Writer to join our dynamic team part-time and to specifically support the Culinary Health Institute. As a Medical Grant Writer, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission by crafting compelling grant proposals for various organizations, including but not limited to the American Heart Association, NIH, NSF, and USDA. The ideal candidate is adept at program development, budgeting, conducting background research, and ensuring the timely and accurate submission of grants. This position will work closely with and follow the leadership of the Culinary Health Institute Director. Position is part-time and requires 20 hours per week. Full time will be considered. 

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced degree in a related field (Masters, PhD preferred).
  • Proven experience in medical grant writing, with a successful track record of securing funding from organizations such as the American Heart Association, NIH, NSF, and USDA.
  • Strong program development skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling narratives.
  • Proficiency in budget development and financial justification for grant proposals.
  • Proficiency in writing grant and budget updates.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from the Culinary Health Institute Director.

Position Functions and Duties:

Grant Proposal Development:

· Conduct thorough research to identify funding opportunities from diverse sources, with a focus on medical grants from organizations such as the American Heart Association, NIH, NSF, and USDA.

· Collaborate with the Medical Grants Manager and other team members to develop comprehensive and persuasive grant proposals.

Program Development:

· Work closely with program managers and subject matter experts to understand the objectives, outcomes, and impact of proposed projects.

· Translate program goals into compelling narratives that align with the priorities of targeted grantors.

Budgeting:

· Collaborate with finance and program teams to develop accurate and realistic budgets that align with grant requirements.

· Ensure budget narratives effectively communicate the financial needs and justifications of proposed projects.

Submission and Compliance:

· Ensure the timely and accurate submission of grant proposals, adhering to the guidelines and deadlines of each funding organization.

· Collaborate with the Medical Grants Manager and Culinary Health Institute Medical Director to maintain compliance with grant requirements, including reporting and documentation.

Coordination and Communication:

· Work closely with the Medical Grants Manager to coordinate grant-related activities and timelines.

· Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
