This position is within the Care Solutions segment and has responsibility at the Janesville site engineering department which is a multi-user site mainly focused on the practice of alkoxylation and quaternization based process technologies. This position is responsible to provide computer and IT assistance, process control assistance, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, discrete and modulating valve support, electrical troubleshooting, run the critical instrument and interlock verification programs, help conduct the annual E-Stop testing, help maintain site access, camera, and telephone systems, and run smaller projects. This position will primarily be involved with the engineering and production teams and is expected to assist maintenance and resident contractor teams. This position is also responsible for being the lead in troubleshooting the Emerson Delta V and SIS infrastructures, can troubleshoot using Emerson’s AMS, repair, and install control power supplies, I/O cards, and controllers. It can also configure and troubleshoot controllers, I/O cards, bus networks, control modules, and equipment modules. Also, able to review alarms, event logs, and process history for supporting incidents and troubleshooting plant problems. Proficient in ASibus, Profibus DP, Modbus, and their connecting gateways. This position is also able to support projects by either running small ones or as a resource in larger projects and can specify new or replacement instruments. Utilize Emerson’s AMS or HART communicator to work on instrumentation. Install power carriers, I/O carriers, power supplies and power extenders, I/O cards and controllers. Configure and troubleshoot controllers, I/O cards, modules SFCs (Sequential Function Charts), PLMs (Phase Logic Modules), EMs (Equipment Modules), and control modules, and DeltaV networks (AS-interface, Profibus DP, Serial Cards, Modbus and DeviceNet). Review historian collection and event logs and alarm history. Create and Modify DeltaV graphics, Gems and faceplates or detailed display. Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of all instruments controlled or monitored by DeltaV. Critical instrument inspection/calibration and associated documentation and tracking. Troubleshooting and resolving process upsets. Active ownership of short- and long-term issues that require engagement with external resources such as, Evonik IT, Emerson’s Guardian support, or other manufacturer technical support, until resolution can be achieved. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain the site’s, plant computer systems LAN, camera system and network, telephone system, front gate access system, facility internet WAN (working with remote IT and OT). Also performing DeltaV hotfixes and Microsoft security updates. Critical interlock testing and associated documentation and tracking. Troubleshoot any instrument or electrical system up to 480V plus information gathering in equipment, transformers, and switchgear on systems of 2300 V and 13,800 V. Troubleshoot, install and/or repair VFDs configuration, and equipment used for: temperature, pneumatics, pressure, flow control loops, process computer systems, weigh cells, power distribution systems, circuit breakers, motor control circuits, heat trace, and other systems. Assemble automation components such as valves, actuators, and limit switches. Prepare material and cost estimates for work orders for both capital projects and maintenance. Work with Maintenance Inventory Coordinator to order parts and ensure specifications of equipment are correct. Manage smaller projects. REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Information Technology, or similar degree preferred. Related Experience: 5 years’ experience as an instrument, controls, or computer technician within a manufacturing facility or equivalent experience. Communication: Good listening skills to understand the need, issue, scope, and/or consequences of an issue. A critical thinker with good verbal and written communication skills. Special Training or Competence: Inherently inquisitive and tenacious. General knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, piping, electrical and mechanical systems, Microsoft operating system, ethernet networking, and basic troubleshooting skills. Forklift and man-lift operation can be trained after hiring. Equipment/Software Skills: General use of Microsoft Office software. Previous experience in AMS, DeltaV, ASi bus, Profibus, and variable frequency drive experience a plus. Will be required to wear respirator equipment for specific job duties.
