Pastoral Assistant of Engagement, Mission, and Service

Pastoral Assistant of Engagement, Mission, and Service works closely with individual parishioners, parish leadership, staff, and ministries to facilitate and promote involvement and engagement in the life of the parish. The Pastoral Assistant of Engagement, Mission, and Service also facilitates meaningful parish engagement with our surrounding communities, helping build trusting relationships with the communities we aim to serve. The position will help mobilize the gifts of the baptized, assisting each parishioner in developing their place within the Body of Christ.

Engagement: In collaboration with the Pastor and staff, develop and implement strategies to enhance parishioner engagement, participation, and involvement.

Become acquainted with as many of the parishioners as possible by overseeing the joining, welcoming, and membership process as a whole.

Coordinates new parishioner welcome events, communicating with new and current parishioners to actively engage in ministry by discerning their gifts of faith, discipleship, and service to instill a sense of belonging, involvement, and community.

Work closely with office staff to promote evangelization for new members and those reaching out to the church at pivotal moments in their lives (i.e. baptisms, weddings, funerals, etc.)

Coordinates with parish staff and ministries to promote parish events, activities, and outreach efforts. Help to support the organizing and management of parish events, including education, volunteer, social gatherings, fundraisers, and community-building activities. Help to support and facilitate communication between parishioners, clergy, and staff. Foster a sense of community and belonging within the parish through various programs and initiatives.

Mission: Work with the pastoral team to develop and implement evangelization strategies. Promote parish outreach programs and initiatives to the local community. Assist in organizing and coordinating evangelization events, workshops, and seminars. Collaborate with parish volunteers and leaders to support evangelization efforts. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of evangelization activities and adjust strategies as needed.

Stay informed about relevant Catholic teachings, practices, and trends to support evangelization efforts.

Service:

Plan regular, brief and focused service activities that can be accomplished on Sunday mornings. (for example, making bag meals) - Recruit and train volunteers to lead parish activities and events - Provide support and resources to parish ministries and committees. - Foster a sense of teamwork and cooperation among volunteers and ministry leaders.

Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply (English/Spanish). You must state your interest in applying for the bilingual title designation. This will notify the hiring committee to evaluate your level of language proficiency as part of the interview process. Bilingual pay will be offered in addition to the salary.

The candidate must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church. While you will report directly to the pastor, this position is a leadership position. You will be expected to be a self-starter and to remain motivated to bring tasks to completion. This is a full-time position.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
