Job Description:

We are a small non-profit skilled nursing center providing a full range of therapeutic services for patients & residents while supporting their families and our staff on the front-line. The facility takes a multifaceted approach to treatment and recovery, collaboratively designing individualized care plans for each person. Our Mission is to “…enhance the well-being of those we serve with compassion, care, and dignity”. Those we serve include residents, patients, their families and our team members. The individual who joins us will be aligned with, and committed to this Mission. The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing Services department to ensure the highest degree of care in accordance with all laws, regulations, and standards. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies to develop, support and coordinates resident care, related administrative functions, and represents the interests of the Center and the broader community. Maintains a physical, social, and psychological environment that is conducive to the Mission.

Essential Responsibilities:

Ensures maintenance of records and reports concerning resident care; Manages the Nursing Services department within the budget; Develops, maintains, and periodically updates written policies and procedures; Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator as required / requested; Provides the Administrator with information about the nursing needs of the residents and the nursing service department’s ability to meet those needs; Monitors the community’s survey reports and assists in developing plans of action to correct / respond; Serves on, participates in, and attends various committees as appointed by, or negotiated with the Administrator; Determines the staffing needs necessary to meet the total nursing needs of the residents; In conjunction with Human Resources, recruits and on-boards nursing service personnel; Develops work assignments and schedules duty hours of nursing service personnel;

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND CREDENTIALS;

Must possess, or qualify for a Rhode Island license as a Registered Nurse. Three years or more experience in nursing administration in long term care setting or a comparable management position. Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of leadership, organizational ability and communication skills. Knowledge of policies, budgeting, personnel management and census development;
