2nd Home Adult Health Care is Hiring an In Home Caregiver Near Elizabethtown, KY

Position Summary:

At 2nd Home, our caregivers play a vital role in assisting individuals who face challenges in performing essential daily activities (ADLs – Activities of Daily Living). This includes providing support to the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and those dealing with chronic or mental health conditions. As a 2nd Home Caregiver, you actively contribute to the Attendant Care Program under Medicaid, enabling us to deliver essential services to clients within the comfort of their homes.

Background checks and pre-employment drug testing are required. You must have a driver’s license, reliable transportation, and car insurance in your name or as a listed driver to provide transportation services to 2nd Home clients.

As a caregiver at 2nd Home, these skills and qualifications will contribute to providing an enriching and supportive environment for our clients, promoting their overall health, comfort, and happiness.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Caregiver:

  • Personal Care Assistance: Provide support with essential personal care activities, including assisting clients with bathing, dressing, ambulation, and safe transfers to ensure their comfort and well-being.
  • Accompaniment: Accompany clients to various appointments, including visits to the grocery store, doctor's appointments, and pharmacy visits, offering companionship and assistance as needed.
  • Light Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized living environment for clients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious and balanced meals for clients, taking into consideration any dietary restrictions or preferences, and ensuring they receive adequate nourishment.
  • Medication Reminders: Provide gentle reminders for clients to take their medications as prescribed, helping them manage their health and adhere to their medication regimen.

All caregiver responsibilities are client centered and are individualized by each client plan of care.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Language and Communications Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities are essential to establish cooperation, interpret policies, share information, and offer expert insights during consistent interactions with management, fellow managers, colleagues, external agencies, medical staff, clients, families, vendors, and the public. This role involves engagement with a diverse array of adult clients across various age groups and with diverse healthcare requirements. The capacity to listen intently and articulate responses clearly and comprehensively is pivotal when receiving and addressing inquiries.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Applicants must provide a current and valid Driver's license and proof of car insurance upon hire if providing transportation services to 2nd Home clients. Prior to commencing independent work with clients, completion of training and certification in First Aid, DAIL (Department for Aging and Independent Living) training, and CPR is mandatory. Recertification is required as per designated intervals. Additionally, every employee is obligated to undergo an annual PPD test or obtain medical clearance for tuberculosis symptoms, particularly if a previous positive PPD result is on record.
