The 21st Century Cyber Charter School welcomes applications from Pennsylvania certified Special Education teachers to join our collaborative team of education professionals. The ideal candidate will be student-focused, and passionate about student success. This position is a 12 month/260 day assignment effective July 1, 2024 .

LOCATION: Remote/Work From Home with the ability to travel into one of our two campus as required.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Special Education Content Developer will collaborate with other content developers and teachers to ensure courses and course pathways are developed to meet the varied needs of special education students in regular education classes. The Developer will be responsible for writing and revising alternate pathways within regular education classes (English, Math, Science and Social Studies). The Developer will also revise, edit and improve service delivery through existing learning management technologies. Through active collaboration with the Instructional System Design (ISD) team, the Developer will plan, troubleshoot, implement and evaluate the program of instruction; implement an on-going review of learning management system content to assure consistency, accuracy and functionality across the learning platform(s).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as a special education expert in differentiation and remedial instruction and stay abreast of the latest educational trends such as Universal Design for Learning.
2. Partner with teachers to assist in the creation and evaluation of courses and course pathways to maximize student access, engagement, and learning.
3. Ensure courses and course pathways are aligned with Pennsylvania (PA) state and national standards.
4. Create, revise and maintain pathways within existing courses to assist teachers with differentiation of instruction to meet the needs of varied learning abilities.
5. Within the existing learning management technologies, revises/edits interactive learning to include course objectives, activities, collaborative learning environments, graphic art/media, and valid/reliable assessments to meet course objectives.
6. Revise, maintain and update curriculum housed in 21CCCS learning management applications, and technology platforms.
7. Support alternative approaches to learning delivery, which could include blended learning solutions and/or other learning technologies.
8. Work with the ISD Coordinator to create style guidelines for projects, ensuring that they are executed and maintained in a consistent manner throughout the development process.
9. Support organizational instructional/educational technology goals and initiatives.
10. Performs any other duties/projects as assigned by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:
1. In depth knowledge of special education and content areas within PA standards.
2. Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of varied learning abilities.
3. Experience with online educational learning management technologies utilized by the School.
4. Ability to competently use computers, computer software technologies utilized by the School in the execution of essential job responsibilities.
5. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with an in-depth understanding of the editorial process.
6. Excellent organizational and project-management skills.
7. Detail oriented, with an ability to effectively prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines.
8. Demonstrated ability to function independently and collaboratively, at all levels of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in education. Masters Degree in education desirable.
2. Minimum 3-5 years Special Education teaching experience. Middle or high school experience is preferred.
3. Web design and/or HTML experience is desirable.
4. ISD development experience is desirable.
5. ADA compliance experience desirable.

Professional or Other Required Certifications
1. Valid level II PA teaching certification in Special Education required.
2. Additional PA teaching certification in other content areas is desirable.

Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm

In 1999 the Intermediate Units of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties saw the need for a cyber school to serve their students, but they wanted to ensure that the school offered high quality education.
