Description

2nd Grade Teacher

GEO 21st Century Charter School in Gary is seeking a highly motivated and experienced 2nd Grade Teacher to join our team. As a 2nd Grade Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for our students. You will be responsible for teaching a variety of subjects, including math, reading, writing, science, and social studies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the needs of all students
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to engage students and promote critical thinking
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed to ensure all students are meeting learning objectives
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs
  • Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
  • Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
  • Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
  • Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • Valid State of Indiana Professional Educator or Initial Practitioner license (substitute license not accepted)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching 2nd grade or similar age group
  • Strong knowledge of 2nd grade curriculum and teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
