ROLE SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Plant Breeding Technician. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support to the Zone and Global Breeding teams in various tasks related to data collection, including but not limited to field observations, greenhouse observations, and other cutting-edge phenotyping methods. The ideal candidate will have a degree in crop science or a related discipline, possess the ability to work in challenging field conditions, demonstrate a strong commitment to data quality, and be proficient in data organization and operation of data collection equipment and experimental planning and logistics. JOB RESPONSIBILTIES: Collaborate with the Zone Breeding team to collect data using various methods, including field observations, greenhouse testing, and cutting-edge phenotyping technologies. Assist in phenotyping activities, utilizing advanced techniques and tools for accurate measurement and characterization of plant traits. Support breeding logistics, including organization, plot planting, and plot maintenance, while incorporating the data collected from different sources. Coordinate organization and analysis of variety management trials and collaborative disease nurseries Ensure proper organization and maintenance of data collection equipment, including cutting-edge phenotyping devices. Adhere to established protocols and guidelines for data collection, ensuring accuracy and precision across different data sources. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all relevant safety guidelines. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in agronomy, crop science, plant breeding, plant pathology, or a related discipline. Hold or able to obtain Class A CDL Hold or able to obtain FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) Hold or able to obtain pesticide applicator certification Strong ability to work in the field under adverse weather conditions, such as extreme temperatures or inclement weather. Familiarity with statistical analysis software and data management systems Demonstrated commitment to data quality with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in data organization and maintenance Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team. Ability to follow protocols and guidelines accurately. Knowledge of plant breeding principles and practices is preferred Experience in plant pathology research and/or pest and disease scouting is preferred Seasonal domestic travel required Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
