1901 Inc. is Hiring a Mechanical Piping Estimator Near Madison, WI

1901 inc. designs, builds, and services plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection for the commercial and industrial construction industry throughout southern Wisconsin. We are seeking an experienced mechanical piping estimator to support our growth.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Piping Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with mechanical piping projects. This includes analyzing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with project teams to ensure accurate and competitive bids. The Estimator will also stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and construction methods to provide up-to-date and relevant estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Analysis:Review and interpret project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to understand the scope and requirements of mechanical piping systems.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate project estimates.

Cost Estimation:Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs associated with mechanical piping installations.Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.Consider factors such as project timeline, regulatory requirements, and potential risks when developing estimates.

Vendor and Subcontractor Interaction:Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services related to mechanical piping.Negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.

Bid Preparation:Prepare comprehensive bid packages that include detailed cost breakdowns, project timelines, and any other relevant information.Collaborate with the bidding team to ensure accuracy and competitiveness of bids.Coordinate and review bids with internal disciplines to ensure scopes are captured.

Documentation:Maintain organized records of project estimates, bids, and related documentation.Track and update cost data regularly to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Continuous Improvement:Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and changes in regulations.Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost-saving measures.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5yrs experience as an estimator in the mechanical construction industry.In-depth knowledge of mechanical piping systems and related materials.Familiarity with estimating software and tools.Strong analytical and mathematical skills.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
