The Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) is a nonprofit organization contributing to the safety of youth, families, and the communities of Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties through immediate screening, early intervention, comprehensive assessment and improved access to appropriate services. JAC Part-Time Assessment Specialist obligations include data entry, fingerprinting and mug shots, screening, and assessment of youth transported by law enforcement or referred by community partners. Specialists identify areas of risk and need, recommend post-assessment services, and conduct follow-up communication. Specialists will prepare detailed assessment reports to District, County, and Municipal courts within a given deadline when applicable. These reports to the court will be a summary of the information obtained during a youth’s intake; including screening and assessment results as well as recommendations for the officers of the court and other professionals.
Specialists may also facilitate crisis intervention for youth and families prior to the release of youth back to the community. In some cases, Specialists will coordinate with collaborating agencies for an alternative release from the program.
