Department: 35123 Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center - Pediatrics: Development Center Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Monday-Friday with some after-school hours preferred to help with patient access. Hybrid flexibility. Summary: Provides clinical psychology services to youth (birth through 21 years) with significant developmental, behavioral/emotional and learning disorders and the families of these patients, in an outpatient setting. Includes diagnosis, evaluation, treatment (individual, family, group therapy), consultation, and discharge planning. Includes communication and collaboration with physicians, multidisciplinary therapists, graduate trainees, families, school personnel, and other healthcare and community providers. Major Responsibilities: DIRECT PATIENT CARE: Maintains caseload of evaluation, treatment and consultation cases, applying clinical expertise to the PDC’s clinical programs and multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment teams including the following: 1)Provides a range of psychological services, including: a) comprehensive psychological evaluations, both singly or as part of a multidisciplinary team; and b) direct therapeutic services, including individual/family therapy, therapeutic and social skills groups, and parent training. 2)Maintains a faculty clinic and provides evaluation and consultation in select subspecialty clinics 3)Collaborates and consults with school, medical and therapy professionals in the community, as appropriate, to ensure diagnostic and treatment goals are met in all environments. 4)Communicates with other healthcare providers to facilitate continuity of care. 5)Provides long-term follow-up, consultation and re-evaluation as necessary. 6)Maintains appropriate professional licensures and related requirements such as continuing education. 7)Completes all required steps to ensure appropriate documentation and billing in a thorough, accurate and timely manner, e.g., notes and reports in EMR, documentation for insurance verification, billing. FACILITATION OF PSYCHOLOGY RESIDENCY AND GRADUATE STUDENT TRAINING: Provides ongoing training and clinical supervision to psychology graduate trainees in the PDC’s ambulatory Clinical Psychology (residency) externship program. This is an annual cohort of 20 psychology graduate student trainees who spend a 12-month practicum placement at the PDC. 1)Helps PDC leadership perform annual recruitment of the number and type of graduate trainees needed (clinical interests and competencies, languages, etc.) to meet the strategic needs of the PDC. 2)Helps PDC leadership perform the clinical and administrative functions of the clinical psychology training program to ensure clinical excellence. 3)With other staff psychologists, conducts initial and ongoing training experiences to ensure a standard of professional excellence. Includes intensive initial multi-week training, weekly group supervision, and weekly didactic experiences. 4)Provides direct, weekly, individual clinical supervision to a subset of psychology externs, as assigned. 5)Monitors ongoing performance of psychology externs within one’s subset, including productivity levels and compliance with clinical standards. Addresses performance issues in a timely way. 6)As requested, provides training experiences to medical residents and fellows who rotate through Developmental Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Neurology. ADMINISTRATIVE: 1)Remains current on new and revised evaluation instruments, disability and special education regulations/laws, and the clinical and psychological literature on best practices in the field. 2)Assures that documents of evaluations, consultations and therapy are provided in a timely manner. 3)Follows HIPAA/Advocate Healthcare policies for maintaining confidentiality of protected healthcare information. 5)Submits appropriate billing for services rendered. 6)Maintains professional license(s) including continuing education requirements. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: 1)Helps PDC leadership to develop services and engage in special projects. 2)Participates on process improvement teams. 3)Participates in Advocate research projects as appropriate. 4)Conducts trainings/presentations to educate consumers and the professional community. 5)Participates in the PDC’s community service activities 6)Participates in ongoing quality assurance and safety programs. Licensure: Psychologist Clinical within state of Illinois. Education/Experience Required: Doctorate in Psychology with specialization in child/adolescent clinical or school psychology or behavioral psychology. Minimum 1 year supervised, post-doctoral experience. 4-5 years experience in the treatment of children with developmental disabilities and/or behavior challenges. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Computer literate. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with multidisciplinary team. Active license in the State of Illinois as a Clinical Psychologist. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team including MD, ST, OT, PT, SW. Well-developed clinical skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills. Some early evening hours. Commitment to evidence-based interventions, to staying current on the pediatric literature, and to modifying practices and recommendations in response to the literature. Behavior/crisis management skills in emotionally elevated situations with pediatric patients. Knowledge of special education programs, regulations and laws Adaptation to high stress Problem solving and conflict resolution skills in potentially adversarial situations If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
